The song has a lot of "we", but it sings solo and doesn't even has any harmony. it can be interpreted as this song used to be sang by many abyssal hunters but now it's ulpipi himself all alone.

I don't know if I'm just stretching it, but the beginning and end of the track has a whale's song, doesn't it? Considering that Ulpianus is confirmed to be a humpback whale, it makes this all the sadder. Just like the song, he's singing in the ocean all alone.

Lyrics gives feeling that this song meant to be sang by a whole crew or even army on a giant ship or even fleet. But theres no ship... Neither the crew... Only group of 4....

Ohh how fitting for him. This feels both determined yet weary. I enjoy the whale vocalizations in the background near the end as well!

It's not an instant ear-catch like Song of Fools, but the more I listen the more it resonates - it fits Ulpapa so well. I love the singer's voice as well, strong and emotional.

Many have mentioned the plural "we" despite a singular singer, but I've yet to see anyone mention the different voices Ulpianus sings it in, with a few rather distinct ones There's a rough, captain-y voice (likely Ulpianus' natural voice), a more youthful, energetic one (a newer/younger member perhaps?), and at least one in between (they may be similar, but I recognize 2-3 major ones, maybe more variations). He practically switches voices with each line. While this is in no way uncommon in songs, I think it was deliberate as Ulpianus' tribute to the fallen. As though imitating his squad, his 'crew', the ones long gone. No matter how many voices are silenced by the waves, they will never be forgotten. Truly couldn't be an Arknights character without deeply tragic coping habits, could he?

I imagine this would have been a send-off shanty (something to sing while leaving port on a mission), had there been more to sing it. Some of the lines are done in a call and response manner so imagine if the "Aye, Aye, we're comin" was sung by dozens of voices and not just Ulpianus himself. I imagine this shanty could have had an impact similar to "Hoist the Colors" and maybe one upon time it did. But now? It's just him singing, because he's likely the only one left who knows the words.

This OST packs so much weight to the Aegir and AH series. Especially Ulpian. Leader of the Abyssal Hunters, Warrior of Aegir, Man of his ideals, Man of commitment, Man of strength Man of his team, Man of rationality, He is by far one of the best playable male characters we got in AK. And up there in the charts in general. Peak.

He has a beautiful voice but he lost that in the war of sea Like he lost many friends when they confronting disasters. .  Now he sing in a cracked voice. But inside，his fair voice still keeping. He is still there.  As a keeper as a warrior,as he always face the unknow.  I really like Ulpianus! 🐋

This song feels like it was meant to be a shanty. Three voices sing about the vows a unit of sailors took to protect their homeland. Alone. Asking, almost begging, for answers from the others. Which would turn this into a modern shanty. But it is not. So here's an idea. What if. The eventual culmination of this story not only brings together the Collective that is the Abyssal Hunters, but also makes them Sing A Shanty Together. And I mean a classical shanty. Wellerman from a few years back technically wasn't. It became one through community. But I really want all of them Sing A Shanty Together.
