Honestly always thought he was just fine on Ys barring a few tracks in IX. His Trails stuff is way more dodgy but some of my very favorite tracks in VIII and IX were by him

While I love the Ys games it def won't be Game of the Year. That's probably going to Final fantasy 16, Zelda, or Resident evil 4 Remake.

@@RaifSeverence I don't think this dude has played many of the games. its possible he only played 8 as that seems to be the fan favorite for many and how many got into the series including myself sadly and i say sadly cause i wish i knew about the franchise sooner. That aside i feel 8 is way too overhyped and overrated nowadays by most people that have at least tried the series. Its just not fun moving around in 8 or replaying really cause of some design decisions. Replayed 8 recently and never realized how the game was littered with invisible walls till i replayed it around the same time as 9. The fishing is fun but screw the final legendary fish. The combat is good but not as crisp and fluid as IX imo. My favorite part was the secret dungeon as both dana and the main party. Raids honestly suck imo. The master kong training sessions suck because if you fail you have to waste ripe mangoes which can be a pain to farm cause farming sucks even with a full loadout so its best to savescum it which means a lot of waiting time if you fail a lot which on nightmare you might if you suck at dealing with some attacks like me but the main issues are usually the signature attacks for me aside from that kong is so easy honestly. not being able to level easily without changing difficulties sucks because 8 bosses and enemies have crazy stat scaling or something because even being 5 levels below a boss usually results in the boss being able to one shot you. Inferno mode kind of sucks because bottles burn up and its a pain to farm bottles. Nightmare can be fun. Its just not a game i see worth revisiting honestly and the combat isn't good enough to replay over and over imo. As time goes on i feel the best aging games are I and II currently.

@@dave9515 Just because 9 is better doesn't mean 8 is overhyped. Still has good combat, fun exploration, an interesting setting/story, amazing music, and really interesting characters that round out a longish game. If you're playing on Nightmare, the hardest difficulty, and you're not expecting to reload due to a slipup, that's 100% on you, don't blame the game for warning you that shit's unfair lol. Normal is the expected play experience, and the game is beyond playable on that mode. IDK, it's just a weird hill to plant your flag. 9 is better in a lot of aspects but 8 is still an amazing game, not overrated in the slightest.

Cloaca Maxima and Glessing Way were my favorites in IX
