The artist did a pretty good job, and if they’re not going by exact lyrics (which, even then, can still be translated differently depending on who does it) it’s up to the artist to interpret the words how they see fit. It’s a good song, even if it’s not exactly translated like Funimation’s 🤷🏻♀️

Mania ! I figured that it was the fact that why do all fight to live our lives despite the fact that we will all eventually die at some point. Which is backed up by the following line. That is one of the most depressing thoughts I’ve ever heard. I don’t know how the first commenter interpreted the line, but their comment doesn’t sound like anything about violence.

As far as I am concerned this is a perfect opening. Gorgeous animation with the emphasis on the eyes and the blue stripes of the uniform, great shots that show characters abilities and personalities, an absolutely jamming song that keeps the energy going and matches the series musically and lyrically. *clears throat* on that note your cover of this banger is fantastic and consider me subbed.
It doesn't carry the same high energy and speed of the original, remember this is an anime about first responders, corrupt governments, and cults so literally Fullmetal Alchemist, but everyone learned Flame Alchemy.

We all only get so much time on this earth, so why waste it fighting and causing each other pain? They say you gotta laugh or else you'll cry, but that's easier said than done sometimes. That and the lyrics at 2:27 hit home for me, "I graduated, still I'm not smart! Can't tell if I have broken my heart! Torn up, I can't keep playin', I'm so frustrated! I can't help wondering if this is Hell!" I've graduated from college, but I still feel like there are a lot of things I don't really know. Sometimes it feels like my heart is broken, and I'll never be able to pick up all the pieces to put it back together again. I don't mean broken from a failed relationship, but just in general my heart is broken by all the pain and suffering I witness. I think this is the best eng version because it not only encompasses the true meaning of the song but also keeps most of the original lyrics with a few exceptions when the direct translation doesn't make perfect sense or doesn't rhyme
To me right now... This is the supreme English cover. I love this translation the most and the singer is so close to the original singers' voice it sounds like the same song but in English.
This song is so good, like the lyrics really talk about things we as human beings think about our lifes, time, reasons for doing what we do, beyond that, this think of using the flames, which is normally used as a weapon or something that destroys other things, as the source of life is a good metafor too, but besides this all, thank you for the adaptation, you did a great job doing it.
The most amazing thing happened to me while listening to this. I had my Bluetooth earphones in while listening and I took out the left one to talk to someone. I had to tell them to shut up for a second because the entire quiet part at 2:40 had no instrumental without the left earphone. It was just Sam's voice and it was fucking godly.
