What I got from this was that when this boy was a teenager in school, a girl told him that she loved him by the water fountain. This made him expect so much, and he thought, well now they are together; everything is perfect. But then another boy comes along and takes her away. She forgets about the boy at the water fountain, and spends time with another guy. When she remembers its too late, she thinks, but the boy at the water fountain still wants her. In her mind, she is guilty and doesn't want to be with him because she doesn't want to deal with drama. They both know they are too young for relationships, and none of them will last long at this age. The boy still secretly wishes she was his, and he loves her. But he knows it would never work because they still have their own lives, and drama, and relationships on top of that is a bad idea. They are young. Too young for this. The girl may feel guilty and too shy to speak to him again. He knows its too late now.

I love it when a song is this well made... to make you see the song like if it were a movie, to bring feelings to the point of tearing, the lyrics, the melody, it's just... it's just genius. Such a smart song, so different from the shitload of crap that some so called "artists" release to the market which are songs with absolute no meaning, no feeling, no thought, stupid songs for stupid people...
