The problem with the Z3 games it's the transmission from SD to HD and it's a new engine, many units attacks were cut down from 8 attacks to 5 or 6 attacks.
Remember Z never intended to release in PSP tho. Just because PS2 was ticking to their grave yet the PS3 was not ready yet so the transition was rough (and the Vita port)
@@DiuLei619 Budget allocation is one thing, but it's also the release scheduling. HD sprite work takes more time to look good. when you're only given 2 years between Z2 and Z3 to draw an entirely new set of sprites in a new format on a system that is notoriously difficult to develop for, corners get cut. B.B. Studio didn't get the luxury of an extended development cycle nor an outside company to take the workload off of them - as was the case with the OGs titles, which tend to have prolonged dev cycles and are made with the assistance of TOSE, a development group that usually goes uncredited but has a wide body of work dating back to the 8 bit generation. so since it lacked that manpower, there was an overabundance of summon animations, animations that look extremely basic in spite of the individual frames looking quite good, etc. Things that still affected V/T/X to some degree, too.
I went back to playing the Z2 games and the best thing about them are the cut-ins specially the gundams, this game is a love letter to the gundam fans.
The animations are still much smoother than many of the newer titles we got (except OG:MD). You just gotta love how dynamic all these Gundams and Knightmares are, not to mention Gurren Lagann. Hard to believe this gem is 10 years old already :D
I recent played both z2 games and it made me want to play z3 and appreciate this game and all the series in both games especially macross frontier even tho it is the lowest ranking anime in that game for me
Just finish Z2 Hakai-hen and Saisei-hen few days ago this is my 2nd run since it first came out 10 years ago in PSP and my thought is SRW Z2 both Hakai-hen and Saisei-hen are hand down better than Z3 and V X T , LOL
I know right i first played ux then i was invested because i saw a amv on the vxt trilogy and then i saw noah amv and then i went to play both z2 games and wouldnt you believe i like almost all the animes in this game all classic/returning titles from previous games and new titles that made the game shine like gurren lagann, 00, dai guard and code geass
And technically getter robo armageddon since the units were in a previous game and not really the pilots and story and also shin mazinger since it is a reboot of mazinger and believe it or not i was confused on why the great mazinger and the grendizer werent in z2 along with the previous getter robos and its because those 2 units were connected to the first mazinger and not shin and they decided to change up the getter robo units and not use older ones
I totally forgot about Giga Drill Break Dai Gurren Special cause I believe it was a combo attack with the battleship. Before V, I tend not to bother putting battleships as part of my strategy thus making them under-leveled and underpowered. Now replaying the Saisei-hen chapter and make sure the battleship was in the middle of other surrounding units as bait and shoot down a few enemy units.
