前沢集落は、平成23年6月に「南会津町前沢」として国の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定されました。明治40年、集落のほとんどの建物を焼失した大火の後に周辺地域の大工の手により一斉に再建されたため、統一的な意匠による景観が形成されました。
家屋（主屋）は、茅葺屋根でその構造から直家とL 字型の中門造（曲家）に分類され、中門造が多くを占めています。中門造は、かつて家族同様に大切にされてきた農耕馬と人が一緒に生活する構造となっ ており、妻面には、明かり取りの窓、梁と貫の木組み、前包の彫刻、狐格子など意匠性の高い造りとなっています。
集落内には、中門造（曲家）13棟を含む19棟があり、現在も人々の暮らしが息づいており、日本の原風景を今に残しています。集落内には、実際の曲家を利用し、中に入って昔の農家の暮らしぶりを体感できる施設「前沢集落資料館」やそば処、古民家カフェなどがあります。

Maezawa Village was selected as an important traditional buildings preservation district of the country as "Maezawa, Minamiaizu Town" in June 2011. In the 40th year of the Meiji era, most of the buildings in the village were burnt down and then rebuilt all at once by carpenters in the surrounding area, creating a unified design landscape.
The house (main house) has a thatched roof and is classified into a straight house and an L-shaped middle gate structure (curved house) according to its structure, and the middle gate structure occupies the majority. Nakamonzo has a structure in which farm horses and people, who were once cherished like their families, live together. It has a highly designed structure such as a lattice.
There are 19 buildings in the village, including 13 Nakamonzo (Kakuya), and people's lives are still alive, and the original scenery of Japan is still preserved. Inside the village, there are facilities such as the Maezawa Village Museum, a soba restaurant, and an old folk house cafe where you can use an actual musician and experience the lifestyle of an old farmer.
