One of the pilots aboard the relevant B-29, Major Claude Eatherly, was astounded at the fatal destructive effect of the bomb, and later agonized from the massive civilian massacre. He wrote: "I see great fires, boiling fires closing in on me, buildings fall, children run with clothes aflame, living torches". American society honored him at first, but later rejected him and diagnosed him as insane when he repented the atomic bombing. Apparently, general American mindset toward the Hiroshima/Nagasaki civilian massacre has not changed. imo, it is American society that is insane.
@@fhbtcb1705 Ever wondered who triggered the war? It is advisable to study the relevant history, if you haven't. btw, imo, the captain is a soldier who never questions ( or believes he shouldn't question ) his duty, while Claude was, and died as, a human of innate conscience.
