JJ Lin is from Singapore not China . As a fellow Singaporean ,we are proud to have him as one of the best male vocalist known to the Chinese pop music industry.
sadlly there isnt a special noun to differentiate between 华人 and 中国人。Its a limitation of the English language which is causing lots of misinformation and misunderstandings when people translate information using English as the bridge in between 2 languages. hahah I guess it applies also to those people holding a different nationality in comparison to their ethnicity. For example korean american we still refer as korean (when we dont mean to specify the person's nationality and just casually discussing about a person's culture background), its very likely that we have made other people misunderstood about the person's nationality in the process.
