Beast was actually heartbreaking (spoilers) For a man who didn't remember him, who had never met him before, Dazai killed himself. I know he's always going on about suicide but it just hurt so bad I can't really understand Japanese but from what I do get the lyrics are so fitting thank you for this
2:28-2:33 I haven't read BEAST, but I have read a summary for it. That look on Daizai's face breaks my heart every time I watch this. You can see how much he wants the friendship that OG Daizai had with Odasaku, but because of how things played out in this universe, he realizes how that can never be possible. He looks so broken! Then he gives that soft smile, like he's accepting his reality for what it is, and he just walks away. Again, I've never read BEAST, so i don't know how much of this scene I am misinterpreting, but man! This is a REALLY great video.
I haven't read beast either but I saw some spoilers in tumblr. What I know tho is that Dazai created that world where he never met odasaku so he could live but in exchange he has to carry all that weight by himself, like what I saw in tumblr Odasaku gets to live without meeting dazai and apparently akutagawa would've been friends with atsushi bc he didn't meet dazai and he isn't that killing machine we all know. Akutagawa became like that because of dazai. so basically Dazai is portrayed as a bad luck and that made me so sad.
@@Theju26 I maintain meeting Dazai was good for Aku in both OG and BEAST, because having a reason for his violence is very important to Aku, or he'll just implode and self-destruct. In both If and cannon the reason he found was either Dazai or due to Dazai, so i think it's safe to assume knew what he needed.
@@Theju26 Before Aku joined the PM he was also a killing machine, a ruthless ball of violence numb to the world and without a reason except surviving. But Aku wanted more than surviving like an animal; he wanted to live, and that's why he would've given his life chasing the first human emotion he ever felt (hatred for people who killed his friends), had OG Dazai not been there and given the lives of the killers to Aku as a "present". Thus the question he asked Dazai the first time they met----can you give me a purpose for living? And when Dazai said he could Aku decided to follow him to the ends of the earth. BEAST Aku was the same but in a different way. Like the OG his violence needed to be "sheathed", but the sheath was Gin instead of Dazai himself, and when he joined the ADA, Odasaku and the others also added to it. I'm pretty positive Dazai had a hand in Oda and Aku's meeting. And that Aku would've died in BEAST prologue, except Dazai called the doctor or something. And now Im crying harder because that bastard arranged everything perfectly, but couldn't do one little thing for himelf. F**vk.
@@landmerry_6742 Don't kid yourself, Dazai didn't a single good thing for Aku. In the original line he murdered the orphans that were like his family and created a situation in which he could be seen as a "savior" only to adopt Aku as a pawn that would do his bidding. The "I'll give a meaning to your life" was pure bullshit to manipulate him, Dazai finds life meaningless and that's why he wants to kill himself. In BEAST he got his friends killed AGAIN, plus took his sister and brainwashed her into thinking her brother didn't love her and was a monster. He doesn't emphathize shit with Aku, he only chose the best methods to use him as he pleased both in the main timeline and BEAST. He can barely keep his shit together himself, he's in no position to decide what's "good" for other people. The look Odasaku gave him in BEAST was totally deserved and he'd probably make the same face if he knew all the stuff Dazai has done in the main timeline.

For some reason, even tho dazai is not my top favourite character, my heart still aches when I see him in the beast au. He wants to go back to the past days with his friend but deep down knows he's become too corrupted for that, he's too much shattered and knows there's no end to his suffering anymore and the fact he's not the one to show his true emotions makes me feel even more bad. He's holding it all back deep within him. Goodness he makes me wanna cry- this person is just!

XD he is a precious one and no one can deny that, I sincerely hope he has the best ending!!
