I agree, the menace effect is lost due to the lack of punch and softer arrangement of instruments. Simply because the musician wanted it as so for this style.

While I do sorta see your point, you can't dislike that violin-piano duet at the end.

It may not be powerful as the original, but the music overall sounds great.

ZUN's Extra Stage Boss theme just become more and more powerful, perhaps most arrangers can hardly create anything that surpasses the original song. But true, dBu's arrangements are great as always.

I feel it to be more powerful because of the notes.

Notes? What notes? Actually, the whole song is more powerful except the part from 2:09 onwards which just sounds weaker because of the instrument.

No. Yeah. This actually sounds like an entirely different song. I even had a listen to the original and it's exactly as I remember it. Whatever I recall I apparently lost to time. I swear this was as I remembered it just a couple months ago. This is bizarre.

Update: I experimented with trying it on Desktop again with my headset as the previous comment was posted on mobile going through my phone's speakers. And surprisingly, it still sounds right as it would be the 1st time I heard it. I have the strongest compelling urge to research if the change of season can actually effect sound waves and what you hear, and if this simply captured a prime example of that. Moreover what disturbs me most into believing this to be the case? The 1st time I heard this was during winter. when I previously heard this, it was still autumn. I'm at that point where I want to come back to this during spring and summer and see if I hear any difference.

@Nekone Well give me one more month and that research will continue! Right now it still sounds as I recall but it's also still spring, even if at the end of it. I will report back on if I discover an all new sort of sound in summer.
