Glad to see there still chance for judo newaza in sport judo competition. With this a judoka can be complete again, just like when jigoro kano fusing two school of jujitsu, not put one in front of the other.
Can you imagine being in a Japanese women's team weight class that has both 2x world champion Uta Abe and 1x world champion Ai Shishime? Then having to drop to 48kg only to have to compete against 2x world champion Funa Tonaki and 1x world champion Ami Kondo.
According to the news on October 18, 2019, Tsunoda Natsumi, who is a silver Medalist at 2017 World Judo has announced that she officially challenges for the Tokyo Olympics in the 48kg class because Uta Abe is almost surely chosen to be the 52kg class of Japan national team at the Tokyo Olympics.
Good that is she is. At 27 years-old this might be her last chance to represent Japan at the Olympics next year. If she misses out this time she will be 31 when the 2024 Olympics rolls by. So hope she gets the honor of fighting for Japan in Tokyo Olympics next year.
Beautiful kumi kata at 3:35. Natsumi strips her opponent's left hand away from her right hand, then with now free right hand grabs her opponent's left lapel, then her opponent reaches and steps forward trying to grab her left hand, and that's when Natsumi goes for the seoi nage on the left side.
That was certainly no ipon at 3:12 not even close. While Natsumi is one awesome judoka the referee is worthless and made a call that wasn't an ipon or wazari. Yuko at best.
Does anybody speak English up in this bitch? But any way the basic mechanism for Newaza is to pull somebody to force them to fall in as their momentum carries them.
