Ok I’ve figured something out. I’ve watched the More music video a lot and watching this I’ve realized something about animating people. With the more experienced, better paid professional animators at Riot you get more lifelike animations where you feel the weight of the character, the physicality, when they do a move there’s recoil if you know what I mean. But with this animation there’s key poses that the animator tried to emulate without fully capturing the physical presence of a body performing those moves. It looks robotic because things move too smoothly from one key pose to the next, the characters don’t feel like they have mass or breath. I’m not judging, I’m just making a point about animation in general. People who use character models they didn’t make themselves often run into the hurdle of making the model do what they need it to without being able to alter the model too much because you might end up with those crazy TF2 animations where the characters are puppets for whatever crazy thing the animator could think to do to them, often breaking the model beyond recognition. Again, this isn’t a slight against the animator of this video, I only noticed this because of this video and wanted to talk about it😅
