Sha Tau Kok is located in Hong Kong's North District, adjacent to Shenzhen's Yantian District! It was designated as part of the Frontier Closed Area in 1951, and has since been accessible only to individuals with a closed area permit. How exciting that it's now more accessible to everyone! In the past, visiting the border town required a guarantee from a local resident. But now, as it gradually opens up, Sha Tau Kok has become a popular destination for weekend getaways!
The opening of Sha Tau Kok occurred in two phases - the first in June 2022 and the second in January 2024! Visitors can now participate in local tours to explore the area's beautiful scenery, unique attractions, and local delicacies. They can even take a ferry to nearby islands, including Lai Chi Wo, Kat O, Ap Chau, and Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark! So much to see and do, you won't want to miss out!
Exciting news! Starting from 1 January 2024, Sha Tau Kok will be welcoming up to 1000 visitors daily! This includes 700 group visitors and 300 individual travellers.
To make your visit even more convenient, please note that individual travellers must use public transport as private cars are not permitted.
The area open to tourists is Sha Tau Kok, excluding Chung Ying Street.
Don't forget, opening hours are from 7am to 9pm every day!

由 2024 年 1 月 1 日起，沙頭角每天將接待多達 1000 名遊客！ 其中包括 700 名團體遊客和 300 名個人遊客。
為了方便您的遊覽，請注意個人遊客必須乘坐公共交通工具，因為私家車是不允許進入的。
對遊客開放的區域是沙頭角，不包括中英街。
