Forget the plane spotting the scenery is just breath taking. Especially if you are from a part of the world that is just barely above sea level and is perfectly flat.

Why does this airport still maintain "Follow Me" vehicles when directing [some] aircraft to their stands? I thought this was a somewhat old-fashioned method when compared to the availability of other high-tech' directional systems.
Wayne Knight this is because there are no fixed gate positions at Innsbruck airport. This aircraft are instructed to taxi to apron. From what I've read.
The entire country of Austria is spectacular. Too bad that Austrians are among the least hospitable, and least friendly people you could ever meet anywhere. For me a country is only as beautiful as its people, and Austrians have a long way to go in that regard.
h Mishin I dunno, us Brits are not a very nice bunch anymore. Possibly worse than Austrians. The UK is a very unfriendly, racist and backward country. Don't understand why the words 'elegance' or 'class' are associated with us.
Aaron; rest assured that Brits, by and large are nowhere near as gruff as Austrians. I've had the pleasure of visiting your country many times, to be sure you'll encounter some unsavory characters here and there no doubt, but again, no contest really. I'm Canadian by the way, and I can attest that my countrymen are decent, friendly and very welcoming towards visitors overall.
One bad experience maybe, and now all Austrians are unhospitable assholes - figures. I on the other hand made nothing but good experience with Austrians - and I am German. People in Europe can be very different in their temperaments, and not everyone can handle that, and have fixed expectations on how to be treated ...
