I recently lost my Dad. I took care of him because he couldn't go by himself or eat without help. I miss my Dad i wish he could've recoverd like in the story. Everyone please spend time and talk to your elder relatives. For both of you.

Exactly. That should be common knowledge. I think that it is different if there is no will, but a person can leave his or her estate to anyone he or she chooses, if they write a will.

Unfortunately my Mother passed away last year after being terminal for 8 months. I spent the 9 months with Mom going back & forth between the hospital & rehab & then home hospice. It was extremely upsetting seeing Mom so weak & sick. Part of me was a bit angry since all my life up till she got sick she had always told me that she had a DNR setup then when she was told she was terminal she changed her mind. I get that it was her life so it was her choice on what she wanted to do, but it was kind of hard for me when the change came after 47 years of being told one thing then suddenly it changes. On the other hand it was also difficult to watch her suffer & knowing she was leaving me. I was always close to my mother she was my best friend too which made it more difficult to lose her. Even though it’s been over a year since she died I still haven’t completely processed her death, I wish with everything I have that she was still here. Mom lived with us which made it more difficult when she died, I couldn’t even enter her room for over a year after she died. At least my husband was understanding about my lost & didn’t push me about going through mom’s stuff. Miss you Maw! Wish you were still here R.I.P. Maw. Love you

I'm not on Liam's side, (In the scenario where his father actually died) he would be able to challenge his father's will because he didn't get anything. In cases like this an important tip is to always leave something in the will for the person you don't want to leave anything, leave a thousand dollars or an item of furniture, but leave something, so that person will be named in the will making it more difficult for him to contest.

You can write a will that names a person or persons to be left out of the will completely. They can try to protest, but really can't do anything about it.

When you contest a will, the inheritance distribution process is stopped until this situation is resolved, so even if the contest is not valid, it can generate years of delay in distributing the inheritance. When we challenge a will, we challenge the validity of what is written, whether the person had the necessary knowledge and the necessary mental faculties to do so. An investigation is carried out to determine whether any of the parties had advance knowledge of the will, whether the will's writer was coerced or forced to make changes, or if the will is forged, if it was written in the presence of a notary, where the will was kept... just to name a few of the many things that are investigated. That's why leaving something, even if in a small amount, is the most practical thing to do, as it makes it more difficult for that person to obtain merit to challenge the will.

He texted such crap to his wife and he thought his father will never find out??! And CEO is a Chief executive oficer. He is not necesary the owner. Not all owners are also the CEO's. He can hire anyone for that job! Anyone! The board of members can choose any capable person good for that position. He doesn't get to inherit the position of the CEO! You need to learn that in these stories.
