I watch this movie with teary eyes. The story teachs us how to be strong against all odds..no matter what.. don't let poverty and being an orphan be an obstacle to pursue ones dreams and visions in life.. thanks for this movie ❤
I am very moved by this movie: A son at such a young age with his determination and perserverance , took on many responsibilities to care for his mother, and survival. His kind teacher became his mentor and support. I hope to visit China, my ancestors and parents* homeland one day, when the pandemic slows down.

Thanks that i was able to watch this. Actors, directors were all amazing for this movie, it made me cry the whole time, I cant stop crying while watching, imagining myself if Im in their shoes I dont know what to do..

Millions of poor people suffer for centuries. This movie is reflecting suffer so real in Chinese poverty. I experienced it in my early year but not this hard. No matter how difficult life is. Nothing above the compassion and dignity of humans. The westerners are lucky but also suffer from their environment and inhuman society that obsess materials and fame as happiness. However, we are all the same if give compassion to one another. Thanks for Eng Sub.
Although this story is fictional, it reflects just one of the worse real-life circumstances where filial children, though young, must care for their disabled parents. As the film depicts, society cannot leave these burdens on the shoulders of these children. I have to praise the producers of this type of film, it's very inspiring to us all.

Chinese movies based on rural China are so realistic. I'm sure there must be many children who face such a terrible situation of having to do everything to look after sick disabled parents, depriving themselves of a proper childhood. A prosperous country like China should have better medical facilities to care for a patient with rheumatoid arthritis!! There were so many good lessons too like the teacher, mother's lesson about gratitude, but the boy is the best! But I feel the mother was too harsh when she corrected the child for stealing the chicken. The child might have committed suicide! Parents should be more sensitive when correcting children
