Just completed this series and I wanted to share how Amazing it was. Each character was perfectly portrayed. Thank you to the entire cast. So very incredible. It was so worth the time spent viewing.
Omg leo😱! In 6 years from a baby face to a matured looking young man! Wow! Now, I got it when Zhang Han said he has grown a lot from the last time he saw him.
I do not see any problem with the first episode. It is normal to start slow and develop the story. It is very refreshing to have mature and closer to the original age actors. They can really ''fill in'' the characters. I was getting tired of looking at the young actors. Don't get me wrong, they are wonderful and very talented and I dearly love them. However, it is impossible to energetically/spiritually represent a character if you have never experienced hardships that only come with age. This is truly a masterpiece!!! I love that the actors look normal, have an aura in their character and are so talented. CD are truly the best right now worldwide!
Yes, truly this is an incomparable masterpiece. But I wanted to recommend you to watch Queen Seondeok too this drama is quite close to my heart too but of course, it might not suit your taste but give it a try.
My mom asked me what makes the drama special for me that I rewatched it every year. I asked her to watch it with me this year and now she is so into it
@@mystic8550 It’s good! It won’t disappoint you. Tbh, it’s not a happy ending but I’d rather say it depends. It has a perfect explanation for the bad ending that you may cry but you accept it. (Sorry,my English is poor that I can not express myself fully. It’s good. Hope you like it.)😘😘
I laughed after seeing Leo Wu since l never watched any of his series when he was a lil bit young, but l have to say he was born for this.......lots of love for him❤️
@@vivianlee5916 You have excellent taste. I'm currently on episode 50 of Legend of Zhen Hua. It's a masterpiece of writing, acting and direction! So many subtle and hidden details, the characters are so layered and complex. Fantastic drama.
Best drama and I've watched it probably 7times and still enjoy it. I am fortunate to understand both Chinese and English, so it's sad to see that the classic, beautiful and poetic Chinese can't be translated beautifully in English .
Just finished the series and went back again at the very first episode. Really, everything is such a puzzle piece. No fillers, all are connected and well-transcribed. Definitely the best as what others had stated! But seriously, I had difficulty getting myself to watch this before. As someone who's not into political drama, evenmoreso if it is historical, I got to drop episode 1 several times before I strained myself to sit down and finish it. The next episodes were the same. Until I get to episode 10 or so I could totally say I was hooked. 54 episodes weren't long plot-wise. What made this so exhaustive to watch was the emotions you'll feel for the characters, especially for our main Lin Shu. To sympathize with what was on screen was gripping to the bones. And yet, I am here ready to dive for the same experience. That's how worthy this series is to be watched over and over. To those who's like me, I hope you won't give up on this by merely seeing the first few episodes. It's there for a reason.
Thanks for the advice. I must admit I've been told this is one of the best C-dramas, so I tried to watch a few months back, but never really got past the first few minutes. I thought of giving it another go this time and saw your comment. Really gonna try to stick it out this time and really get to see for myself why this is considered one of the all-time greats.
I've watched this drama several times.. really very, very good. But this first episode always bothered me. The timeline of events/comments mostly. " They really made him the Crown Prince".... " I've been Crown Prince for 6 years..." It's because he went to Langya Hall to seek advice...' " Yu- " well, we'll go as well".. this was always very confusing to me. BUT... I got passed it, it all worked out...Fei Lui is a gem, Master Su is brilliant and the supporting stars are exceptional. Highly worth it. Then I watched NIF 2. Wow.. talk about emotional... not as cerebral as this one, but could not stop the tears in the 2nd series.
@@tonkatrucker yes, haha! it was a long moment of "wth is happening here", not to mention, the rain of character intros. im thankful i was patient as everything made sense later.
The story is not really historical, it's based on a novel with fabricated political environment. The first episode is hard to understand for non Chinese speaking folks, imho is due to many of the names and ranks/titles are not translated in the sub when they appeared as Chinese text on the screen. The story is about the princes of Liang competing for power, and the first episode lays down the foundation, using the crown prince of Northern Yan as a lead.
@@davidw.2467 Thank you for this! Apologies as I was ignorant, I did not use the proper terminology. All I simply want to address here was that series which tackle issues of the palace, rivalries, war, power struggle, etc. set in past dynasties were hard to watch at first due to its preconceived "boring subject".
Why have you decided to censor the actor Zhangzhehan away from this series? It literally removes all the flashbacks from the past and they are actually an essential part of the storyline and character growth. This is an international platform, it shouldn't be the reason why certain things are removed/cut away.
this ws my first ever cdrama i have watched, i had zero clue on how these politics worked in the court but i still enjoyed it. now that i have seen couple more cdramas im so familiar with these sets that it feels like im watching it with new eyes! and its yet again proving how supreme this drama is over the rest
I just can't find anything better than this. I keep coming back to watch NIF because most shows start good but get messed up with unnecessary misunderstandings, love triangle and just rushed bad ending plots
I am a great fan of HuGe - I never fail to watch anything he stars in. Love all the Chinese costume series - such interesting plots and beautiful costumes!
The musical score in this series is just sooo perfect. Rewatched this over 10 times now. I love it more everytime that I watch it. I always pick up on something I missed before.
The more times I watch the scene from 19:56 to 23:15 the more I desperately want a prequel with the 12 years of Mei Changsu building and leading the Jiangzuo Alliance, he's just so in his element here, maybe even more so than he is at court
@@chercher304 gosh I so agree. I heard that initially Zhang ZheHan (I.e., young mei changsu/Lin Shu) was going to play him again in a planned prequel, but then he got canceled so 😭
Another sequel has been confirmed before the whole virus started, but they didn't mentioned in what timeline it's set. Crossing fingers it will be about that 12 years or about the Langya ranking list!
I'm a Brazilian, watching a Chinese drama with English subtitles. It certainly gets confusing very quickly, as my HSK2 Chinese isn't enough to understand the name of the characters. But I'm here to give this series a 4th try, because all the praise in the comments made me curious and eager to watch until the end. 😊
The first few episodes give no clue that you're about to watch an actual masterpiece. It just looks like some typical Chinese drama with a lot of confusing characters thrown in. I initially stopped watching because I thought there were more interesting things to watch. But I returned because of all the praise it got and stuck to it. My God. It will be a long time before any drama on earth beats this one. This is what Game of Thrones could have been.
