Finally got around to watching this. If you are reading this and haven't watched it before, it's well worth it. It might seem to move slowly but if it didn't, you wouldn't care as much for the characters and it wouldn't hit you in the feels as much... It does have a happy ending (if you can call it that). It's more of a satisfying end to book 1 such that if book 2 never comes out, you aren't left on a total cliff hanger!

Zhang Ruo Yun is quite good. He has a very alive facial expression. I enjoyed his acting at the Joy of life and also I enjoy it now. I have watched a few episodes and can say - it's very interesting. Along with Luoyang these 2 dramas are my favourite so far.

I just started a few hours ago and I am now watching episodes 6 and I can’t stop. This dramas is a master piece; smart and interesting. The acting is great and each episode is surprising. I watched this already and watching it again to share some thoughts that hopefully will appeal to a number viewers looking for a story, not about romantic love. It is about a family's endeavor to maintain the peace that has been achieved by their father by fighting during the chaotic time. Each member of the family shares that vision but trying to approach the situations of dissent by different means. Maintaining the peace, unity and progress is prevalent in everyone's mind. They are all very good strategists, but the father and the heir do not share the same vision on how to maintain the hard won peace in the region. This is where you will enjoy following their every move, every strategy and their use of the hidden talents in their "arsenal". The sideline love story is pure.

This marks the second C-drama I've rewatched, with 'The Untamed' being the first. Its brilliance remains undiminished over time. The portrayal of Huang stood out to me significantly. I just binged this up to date in the last 2-3 days and WOW. I could not put it down for a second. Usually I skip things that does not hook me on 1-2 episodes but I literally watched every second. So impressive with the plot, character development and acting. Big fan of Zhang Ruoyun in Joy of Life and he execute this drama perfectly also. Cannot wait for the rest of the episodes to come out!!!

Good news - Just saw that Joy of Life S2 will be coming out this year - 2023. And there is supposed to be 3rd season. It does not look like Li Qin will be in the 2nd season. She was the Female Lead (actress Li Qin) in Joy of Life S1. I have avoided that show (JoLS1) as I did not like her in Song of Glory (which was awful) and I chugged thru that drama because the Male Lead was so bright - but by the middle everything turned tragic. Zhang Ruo Yun is quite charming so I may grit my teeth and watch Joy of Life 1.

Dear future viewers ~ coming back after having watched the entire series ~ ❤WOW❤~ I binge watched it and LOVED IT! It’s funny, happy, sad, beautiful, and epic! ~The acting is phenomenal, ~Scenery and cinematography is breathtaking ~Costumes are on point ~Ending is mostly happy ~Characters and plot are well developed ~There is a lot of humor mixed in ~Male lead is a phenomenal actor and delivers a completely compelling performance ~Ending is good, but also sets the stage for an easy season 2 ~love Joy of Life? No, now it's it's all special effects with explosives, tornadoes ect which gets repetitive and boring. They used to actually fight in the vintage versions and showed amazing skills and had cool dialogues too.

Un gran drama (como es de hábito con este actor principal, que es muy selectivo para elegir tramas inteligentes) con un final de temporada ¡¡¡ E-L-E-C-T-R-I-Z-A-N-T-E !!!!. Grandes actuaciones, personajes entrañables y una muy compleja intriga. Desgraciadamente, hacia el 7mo capítulo tuve que migrar de plataforma, porque se había interrumpido la traducción al español y, en inglés, se me dificultaba seguir los magníficos y detallados diálogos. Espero puedan adelantar esa traducción, asi la disfruto en v/canal, nuevamente. Porque vale la pena ver 2 veces esta serie. Gracias por el esfuerzo de subir y traducir un material tan excelente.

I hope they come out with season 2 as the actors are talented since the majority of Chinese series are too focus on good looking fresh meat vs acting skills. Also, this story is pretty darn good and not so “milking it”. Reminds me of one particular 3 kingdoms series that I also particularly liked as well.
