心如刀割的我，今日安抵衡州了。轮船中的生活，我来叙述一下，想你所过的生活虽然不同，而你的心也必有同情之感，因为人类是有感情的动物，而（何）况如花初放的我们吗（呢）。
I arrived at Hengzhou today and feel heart breaking. I’d like to describe my life in the steamship which is different from yours, I think there must be sympathy in your heart. The human-beings are sentimental, especially in blooming young age like us.
我怕听流水澎湃的怒潮声，也怕看船头晶晶似的明月，更怕听旅客中谈论青春年少的乐趣，生（死）别离的悲哀。有时请伴侣唱戏以作乐，但无从欢乐起。有时暗自悲伤，又恐怕他人笑我没有革命的勇气而不敢流泪。总而言之，这几天我非常烦闷。此种情况非笔墨所能形容了。
I am afraid to hear the sound of tide, and see the bright moon in front of ship, I don’t even want to listen other passengers talking about the funny of youth, or sorrow of parting forever. Sometimes I invite mate to sing for fun but still no happiness. Sometimes I feel sad secretly but not dare to tear, because I am afraid to be ridiculed for the absence of courage of revolution.
唉!情魔，情魔!你把我们的革命性销（消）磨了。我们是有阶级觉悟性的青年，担负了世界革命的重大使命，我们难道恋恋于儿女的深情吗?没有一点牺牲的精神吗?我们绝对不是这样……
Oh! Love, Love! You are wearing down our revolutionary willpower. We have awareness of class, and we shoulder the great mission of world revolution. Can we indulge in our love, and take our mind off spirit of sacrifice? No, we will never be like that……
事实上告诉了我们，假若我在长沙伴着你，我的宝贝，我的心爱，拥抱着你，给你几个甜蜜的kiss，快虽快乐，但生活马上发生问题。你来韶州吗?工作虽有做，经济不至（致）发生问题，但是青春年少的我们，在一起也不大很好，卿卿我我，我永远爱你，你永远爱我，弄个不得明白，一定会把革命工作抛弃了……
The fact has told us, if I accompany with you in Changsha, my baby, my love, holding you with sweet kisses, the problems would come to our life quickly after the happiness. Will you come to Shaozhou? I keep a job and no worry about the income, but it seems not good to us that always stay together in this young age. Speak lover’s talk like “I love you forever, you love me forever” all the day, that is too love-dovey to forget revolutionary work……
思前想后，除了我们努力革命，再找不出别的出路。把一切旧势力铲除，建设我们新的社会。这个时候，才能实现我们真正的恋爱，才不是经济的关系了。
I considered over and over again, there is no other way except hard working for revolution. Eradicate all old forces and build our new society, then we can realize our real love, get rid off income influence.
最亲爱的妹妹，你不要畏难吧!十八层地狱底下的中国，今日也得见青天白日了。眼见得帝国主义军阀及一切反动势力快要到坟墓里面去。一钱不值的我们，也要做起天下的主人了。努力!努力!前进!前进!我们的目的地终会到达啊!
My dear sister, don't be afraid of hardship! Today China is climbing up from the bottom of the hell to see the sky and sun. 最亲爱的妹妹，我知道你是舍不得离开我的，也知道你是难过的，但是受革命驱使的我们，说不得这样多了，也是实在没有办法，我希望我们的军队开至前方，不开至前方在八九月也要回来同你见一面啊!或者我们的问题在那时也可设法来解决，你安心吧。……
My dear sister, I know you are reluctant to leave me, and I also know you are unhappy. However, numbers of people who are driven by revolution have the same destiny like us. There is nothing else can help, I just hope I could back to meet you around August and September! I hope our troops forward to frontline, perhaps our problem could be solved at that time, do not worry.……
