Yeah, agreed, for me this games problem is that some enemies dont get stunned like the other games which can lead to combo breaks, but this game is awesome
Ascension had just the ultimate peak Blades of Chaos. Design, VFX, SFX and MoveSet Wise... it's just unbeatable. Everything that came afterwards pales in comparison and can only mimic a fraction of what Ascension's Blades are capable of.
Pros: • Best Blades of Chaos Cons: • Unupgradeable Magic • Magic Usage is limited to only 4 • Fire of Ares is the only element worth building up rage for the blades (Titan Difficulty - Casual Play) • Frozen Enemies take years to shatter (Titan Difficulty) • Blades of Chaos is your ONLY weapon
Pros: - the most expressive grab mechanic in the entire Gow franchise so far (up until GoW Ragnarok) - inclusion of multiple Dodge attacks (which this video hasn't shown) - *FIST MELEE KRATOS* (tho it's very limited) - Inclusion of World Weapons (tho aside from Shield, the rest are pretty meh imo) Cons: - all powerful moves and Rage Attacks are only accessible through fully filled Rage Meter - Rage Meter that's half-baked (quickly depleted even mid fight, immediately reduced to zero if you get hit once, and it cannot be saved after area cleared) - Aside from Fire of Ares, all magic are only accesible when said element are fully upgrade - Even after fully upgraded, all of these elements still felt pretty weak All this and i'm not even talking about other combat aspects, enemies, bosses or even the stories
the cons from the OP is just a bunch of strawmanned nitpicks that don't dissect anything of essence of it being considered a 'con'. 1. Magic is upgradable you doofus. (actually I forgot if it was but nonetheless I'll give you that) 2. The Magic Meter is limited based off its new system that it specializes in, to which it's a set of bars rather than a full on meter compared to the previous GoW titles. 3. so every other element is basically utterly useless when building up rage... 😐, you can't be serious. 4. nice hyperbole. 5. Blades of Chaos is indeed your ONLY 'primary' weapon to utilize, but you're forgetting about the side weapons that can contribute to being one of your primary weapons as well as being a well contribution with your main/primary weapon; you're also forgetting about Kratos' kick that stuns enemies & can drop weapons for you to pick up, but you have Kratos' fists to utilize (as well as a running button for a startup to get into a punch combo). now im onto the next one.
@@ShatteredGlass916 1. how is accessing a rage attack via the rage meter a 'con' - you can't just make a strawmanned reductive pinpoint of a gameplay mechanic backed up by a fresh take on a system that Ascension contributed for its hack n slash gameplay, which leads me to your 'powerful moves' pinpoint, which is the exact same thing of how it's a 'con' in essence but you're acting like the 'powerful moves' makes the entire game simple with its non-rage filled moveset, which just isn't true at all. 2. another reductive standpoint against the rage-meter; just because it gets depleted 'mid-fight' & is able to get lost by getting hit, doesn't mean that it's 'half-baked' by the criticism factor. the rage meter is utilized in a way that's sufficient enough for Kratos to unleash his rage on the battlefield (which works harmoniously for the thematic process of the game on a narrative standpoint, regarding Kratos) through gameplay, & way to maximize that is literally unleashing Kratos' rage, but getting hit once will reset it which is a supposed to be a figurative challenge on a gameplay standpoint; none of this makes this 2nd point a 'con' - just a different system that's still based in its rooted essence of what GoW is by the time where Ascension was (regarding the development & the release of it). 3. ye I'll give you that. 4. Great what a con... 'felt' so you're getting your anecdotal feelings, that's purely just sentimental without pinpointing any other contributions, that a magic attack has other than DPS. 5. like you'd even know about 'other combat aspects, enemies, bosses or even the stories' & how to dissect anything of essence for any of these to being considered a 'con' except for the most simple & basic of ones, which is the magic lock-out that you have to upgrade it for to be usable. also, don't even know why you mentioned 'the stories' buddy, you're forgetting that this video is about showcasing the moveset of GoW Ascension, & not a criticism of the games' story.
7:44 God Of War Ascension brought new moves that were very useful in some parts of the game. The Spartan's Revenge move was very useful because it leaves several enemies stunned in battles such as the Cerberus and Cyclopes that can be controlled right at the beginning of the fight because of this move, with the Gorgons it also worked and leaves the enemies in stone.
It's the basic parry mechanic like in previous games, but with a more challenging input mapping. The _Golden Fleece_ in GOW3 did it better, if you ask me.
Do you even need him to show that? He didn't even show Triton's Lance and Poseidon's Trident so why the need to show Poseidon's Ice giving him ability to breathe underwater?
@@leonmystique9372 kratos loss that power in god of war 3 end. In Ascension he regains that power by posiden blade and the note even shows you regained the lost power
Thank you SOOO much for making this! I've been searching searching for this video in ages ngl. One major thing that i noticed about blades of chaos is that it's fire seems weak and pale since this is when Ares just gave Kratos. But in gow 1,2 the fire is chaotic red crimson indicating the lingering rage of Kratos. Soon after in gow 3,4 and ragnarok, the fire is gold and warm indicates it's full power and the continuation of Kratos's life changing.
Wow this…. Was a surprise I thought you said you were unable to do Ascension. Well now I’m glad you did it. I look forward to more from you (namely Final Fantasy or Elden Ring because those are my favorite games right now (next to Mario and Sonic but I’m not making you do videos on those) but I’m down for anything you make and post).
If you press circle circle triangle with a shield and the Souls of Hades, you get the final hit of the Plume of Hades, this will fill up the rage bar easy and then you can use L3+R3 since is the best rage!
Can I ask for a favor. Can you please do the same video, but for Fist combat? And all the moves he's capable of doing? I've been searching sooo long for gameplay showcasing Kratos hand-to-hand combat in his earlier games for months now, but I can't find one single video showing his move set. I've basically given up searching, since every video I watch players constantly grab enemies and throw them over the edge.
I appreciate the suggestion. Unfortunately, I think it’s not something that is doable right now. However, if a PC version gets released in the future, I’ll definitely consider covering all the combat moves, including fist combat and all the multiplayer mode weapons.
Is there even that much fist combat tho? All i know is O is just a kick meant to disarmed the World Weapons, then there's Square Square O combo, then there's hold O that slams fist
Fire of Ares = Blades of Chaos Ice of Poseidon = Medusa's Head + Nemean Cestus Lightning of Zeus = Nemesis Whip + Cronos' Rage Soul of Hades = Army of Hades + Claws of Hades Are there other similar moves from other games? I can't remember all of them.
The charged olympus strike is the strongest attack in the game The souls of hades is the strongest rage pf the game and it's so much stronger than the magic itself Ares magic is the best magic but not the most damaging one the most damaging magic is the one of hades only if you used it in small places and currently Ice of poseidon and lightining of zues have the greatest effect on enemies they can deny them from attacking you even if a gaint enemy was charging against you you can stop him easily by using them
I wish god of war ascension was the same level of god of war 3 back then. I was a little bit disappointed when they should made kratos fight against the children of Ares such as phobos and if I remember correctly phobos is the son of Ares. They should have made god of war ascension is the sequel of god of war ghost of sparta and before god of war 2 which is it still a prequel, where kratos fight the children of Ares after they found out their father Ares died by the hands of kratos
This is high quality and 60 frames! Gow Ascension was notorious for its poor performance on the PS3. It gave 25-40 frames with graphics glitches, unlike Gow 3, which gave 50-60 frames on the PS3. Also Gow Ascension does not add much to the story. The poor performance and the poor story are the two main reasons why fans didn't like this game back in 2013
I literally forgot this game existed. All I remember is this game being the most meh and forgettable GoW title. There's a reason they went in the direction that they did after this one.
@@godzillazfriction nah. I actually played this game back when it released and finished it faster than I did any previous God of War game, and immediately regretted spending $60 bucks on a less interesting version of God of War 3. Ascension is easily the most filler-rific game in existence. In that it struggles to find any relevancy in the grand scheme of things. If you play it, you gain nothing from it. If you skip it, you miss nothing of value.
@@sebastiancintron29 so no elaboration of anything in regards to what you find it lacking in essence, to the fact that you regretted spending $60 bucks on a 'less interesting version of God of War 3' just that last sentiment alone... how am i supposed to know that you truly just formed your own opinions without any influence that garnered around your opinion of Ascension, & if that's the case then basing Ascension as just a 'less interesting' yatta-yatta makes you looking very superficial who just has reductive stances because 1. not enough of comprehension skills. 2. not enough of critical/analytical thinking & 3. not enough of an outlook onto different perspectives. im just going to dissect your pinpoint of Ascension apparently being the 'most filler-rific game in existence' you're telling me that the game 'struggles to find any relevancy in the grand scheme of things' when the game is all about Kratos' Perseverance that is the Ascension to the truth of what & who he is, & the Poetic-Irony of what's to come (chronologically via Kratos' story) after Ascension in regards to Kratos & his perception of existing, to which Kratos wanted to be forgotten by having his memories a.k.a 'nightmares' to be wiped throughout being a 'champion' (im using that loosely) of the Gods, that's based off of what happened during the events of Ascension. just because it doesn't touch anything Grandeur to what you & the general consensus expected Ascension to be as, since it came 3 years later after GoW III, doesn't mean that it's just a 'filler' rhetoric or that it apparently doesn't have any relevancy to something grand about GoW, when it does just not in a way you expect it to be.
@@sebastiancintron29 plus that's not even taking into the account of playing the games 'chronologically' so there's even value in that, but as I've argued from before there's still something to gain from playing it at the time of the release, or by any time after its release. im very skeptical if you haven't been heavily influenced (therefore indoctrinated & polarized) by the superficial masses that is the consensus against Ascension.
@@godzillazfriction well, it's obvious you're gonna disregard anything I say. Especially since instead of starting with a proper argument you decided to call me superficial and brainwashed by the masses. I have nothing to say to you. If you enjoyed Ascension, good for you. More power to you buddy. I didn't enjoy the game. End of story.
