I love the Sound Of Music medley done by the Tokyo Hachioji band! And the Drum Major is very impressive. 東京八王子バンドのサウンド-オブ-ミュージック-メドレーが大好きです! そして、ドラムメジャーは非常に印象的です。
You have to keep reminding yourself "they're just a bunch of high school kids playing in an after-hours school 'club'." How can they get so good when they also have to be regular high school students? These bands never cease to amaze me.
Fabulous performances from all the bands taking part - Excellence is clearly the standard !! BRAVO to each and every one of the contestants I am in awe of your ability.Oh and I love the Battle Cries before going into action,Fantastic!!
The musicianship from all these bands is really excellent. The precision is remarkable. I think Seika’s sound is exceptional, although it would have been nice had the band chosen more original music. Personally (and of course it is a matter of individual taste) I prefer bands who move away from conformity to ancient military traditions and offer more creative styles. In that sense, it is good to see some bands evolving from uniforms that crush individuality towards track suits. I wonder if Narashino’s Russian theme was intended as an ironic response to the conventional US military style? With many thanks from France for this fascinating upload.
As you can see in the highlights every band does similar maneuvers. It is a marching competition and they all must do certain elements, ie. marching in formation around the square and what we call a company front. It’s up to the band’s creativity to make the elements their own. BTW, each band has 6 minutes to perform the routine. If they go over it is a disqualification. The bands have one minute to get on and off the field of competition. I now understand why they are running all the time.
as I understand the judges are all from symphonic orchestras such as Tokyo Sym orch. Not like DCI where judges are divided into categories such as visual, effect, horns and percussion as well as guard. However each band must start with what I call ordinals of marching to determine their abilty in this discipline. This is not done here in USA.
