In the last autumn, I purchased two young kohlrabi plants and grew them in my garden. They were very tough and survived through the snowy winter. I harvested them last week and cooked them into four delicious Japanese dishes. I decided to harvest before they grow too big, since I learned they would carry a hard core which needs to be removed once getting larger than the size of a tennis ball. They taste pretty much like turnips with a touch of sweetness. I love how they melt in my mouth in my stew dish.
