Wonderful times! I got gifted Youkihi eggs by a fellow breeder and they are hatching, and the news that My Lecris long fin eggs are on their way to the UK from Japan! Celebrated with a visit to gift my sister with some Orange sparkle fry and a few gins!

Its definitely a short outdoor Medaka season for me. Don't have enough viable adults.

Do you typically look for traits on both male and female? Or do you look for males with the traits and keep females so long as they dont have deformities?

Hi. It depends on the Breed you have. Deformities are out. But that being said, with the limited breeds that I have kept, if you do not want the Orange to spread, limit the Orange to one (XY or XX). I am not a breeder. Aside from learning from Master Breeders in Japan, I experiment in my limited space that I have. Thank you for chiming in Medakahead @syanhoward8336 !

What I observed in my "litter" is that majority of the males are single color (either orange/gold or black), only the females show the "pumpkin headedness" and are prettier than the males. How big are these?
