Btw if someone wants to try something different than a dps built, try this: I just made a very powerful Support HH weapon but its not for solo hunts due its purpose is buffing and healing.....alot. ⏩ it means i can expand more to the subject if anyone have a question. Another Edit: I had this type of build on MHGU and on that game Wide-Range couldn't transfer Mega Potions to team so i assumed same was for this.... When you look the buffs above your health when you apply all those buff in less of 30-40 sec give me a call 😁
When I’m fighting, my definite biggest gripe with the hunting horn is that I’m always stuck in a long animation when the monster is getting ready to hit me, so learning a fast combo is extremely helpful.
Big Ups for making this video! The HH was my baby in MHW but I quickly fell out of love with it in Rise. I switched to CB and Lance and have been having a grand time. I’m now in late-game and started to miss the HH. I’m able to jump back in after this video. Thank you so much!
After running 1300+ hunts as an LS user, I'm going through on my personal journey/goal rn to get at least 100 hunts with all weps.....I ain't gonna lie I was that dude u talked about lining up the 3 notes and spamming magnificent trio for my 100 hunts on HH. I'm gonna main HH now to honor you, Zook, and Aradoxas' hard work and diligence in providing us this great information to use HH properly. I'll continue my goal to completing the 100 hunt weapons challenge later after proficiency on the Hunting Horn. Thank you guys and you have re-ignited the excitement for the game and I'm almost HR900 :P
@@sirspanks69 yes, but i think they are talking about which version sounds better rhetorically I kinda like “infernal melody” more though It says more with less words
I blame this video for making me fall in love with HH. Detailed enough to teach the principles of the weapon, while also being simple enough for a newcomer scrub like me to easily digest. 👍
The Earthshaker is absolutely insane in Rampages under Counter Signal. With the best possible HH in terms of damage (Rampage Agitato S) can do upwards of 4,500 damage total if you connect the first hit on a good weak spot. It's so good, I actually go out of my way to grab extra Wirebugs so I can use it more. Two of those = 1 Splitting Wyvernshot.
even though this vid a year old, this still serve very useful for new HH mains like I am. Just bought MHR sunbreak and I can't wait to practice this fast combo. ❤
Been playing nothing but hunting horn for a long time, and I always felt like I was lacking when I’m seeing these 3-5 minute speedruns with it, while I’m casually doing 15 minute hunts normally. Finally, it pushed me to actually look up some advanced tips. And as a Mag Trio abuser, I hope I can bring my hunt times down with this video.
This was incredible AND incredibly helpful! 👏 Thank you so much. Rise is my first MH game and I'm loving it but I tend to keep it fresh and learn new weapons and make builds for them. I played through the main story with sword and shield. Then got curious about the LBG, after over 200 quests with it I switched over to Switch Axe; it's the ones looking like a chainsaw that got me 🤔 Then I thought; haven't tried a blunt weapon yet! So here comes the HH. I'm sure I've frustrated many people online with my inexperience despite my higher HR; but I swear I'm trying! Looking forward to bonking magnamalo with your tips! Thanks again!
Really helped me understand the core of the weapon without throwing a barrage of equations and charts to follow. I just started using horns so this will be a great video to rewatch and study for better results.
I miss the complicated music sheet of old world, I also feel like the buffs back then meant more. You were always the hero for playing it and we're praised for your ability to read. I miss you my beloved horn!
LOL! Just a few minutes into the video and I already knew I was playing the Hunting Horn wrong by just spamming the Magnificent Trio. Everything you mentioned is exactly why I used it, it's flashy, fast and feels like it's doing DPS. I am trying it for the first time. I really want to get into this weapon giving it a proper shit this time. Will watch the rest of the video now.
Picked up weapon > "Oh man, this is a lot of fun, and feels like there's a ton of potential. But the damage feels lacking" Watches this video > starts slapping monsters down as fast as my other mains and look like I've been playing hh for months Seriously, so much good info in one place. Learned a ton, and it feels good to have another weapon in the chamber to play through these games with.
Bead of resonance is just so disappointing if you're not running healing melody. I hope Capcom tweaks it for G rank. Maybe it buffs sonic waves, extends sonic barrier, follows you around, or they give us Impact wave back just something so I can run a slightly different play style every once and a while and not feel like I'm not pulling my dps weight in the hunt.
Your videos inspired me to keep using HuntingHorn, specially your valstrax run. I knew that I was committing a lot of mistakes playing Rise HH, so, time to boot up Rise yet again.
Bead of Resonance when paired with Echo mode is actually awesome. I use it quite a lot both MP and SP. Spamming Crush attack + Echo + the bead’s shockwave deals great damage Melody Slap is good for Slugger sets. Plus if you how how to chain the back overhead smash into a combo, then it feels like you just got an extra move with Melody slap and can use both
I just downloaded rise on Xbox. IMO echo > performance. Its more engaging and I dont like attacking 2 times with the same button to get the buff. Im no where near optimal but a great part of the hh is that every attack combos into anything else. Monstet on your right hit B on your left hit y. Down in front of you press y+b have notes on your bar press rt.
Almost instinctively I stopped using bead of resonance and melodic slap. But I would like to know why they're bad. I think that deserves a brief video. Thanks for the awesome info👍!
Late reply and necro. But heres the reason! Echo slap, the echo wave cant crit at all and the Motion Value aka the damage Value is super low. As for bead. Theres only two songs that work for it. Healing and waves. Plus monsters move alot making bead kinda trash sense it doesnt just make more waved every note you completw for damage but acts as a speaker. They both need buffs.
I actually don't hate bead with echo mode, particularly if the horn I have doesn't have attack up since it uses that automatically, but definitely needs a buff.
02:58 bro we're not even three minutes into the video and I've been called out lol. Great video though, decided to start playing the hunting horn on the recent console release of Rise and it's been great fun. Would spamming the mad trio be better if you're using a status build for funsies? Or should I just reserve it for infernal melody usage?
Thanks so much for this I immediately put the information and meta sets to use and pretty easily cleared apex ratholos , the difference was night and day in my damage and flow
Thanks for the guide Deus! As a HH main thanks to your videos mostly, it pains me that HH experience has become quite dumbed-down compared to Iceborne. 1. if down, spam ZR+A+XA, infernal melody, earthshaker 2. if not down, spam ZR+A, keeping a Mag Trio stock. + Pray to god earthshaker lands I feel the overall nerf to HH's reach is what caused this state, along with the murdered motion values on normal moves (except neutral XA which can't be chained to whatsoever). On top of that, slide beat can only be aimed ~60 degrees forward, whereas GS powersheathe/ACS support repositioning at a 360 degree... I have moved on to using different weapons for Rise, which is not a bad thing at all, but it hurts as a HH main that there's not much in shop for Rise HH.
The fact that you used Iceborne HH as an example is a bit funny to me, considering how important "spamming" echo attack (spin2win) became with it. Using echo attack as much as possible became important both when the monster was down or not, even more so for elemental HH builds. I personally don't see how the weapon has been dumbed down. I also believe that the so called "complexity" that other HH players talk about, when referring to the old HH is quite exaggerated. Now of course it's fine if you aren't a fan of the new weapon, but I personally disagree with the arguments you have provided (except for the range/reach). I appreciate the kind words!
@@Doos then we are not playing the same game or u are just underestimating the complexity of iceborne horn. That is disappointing for someone who mains hunting horn this long /Try to spin like a mad idiot right in front of fatalis or any fast monsters in iceborne and u will see how it goes. Iceborne horn is slow paced and methodical. U have to learn when to use left /right/slam/ attack to chain up song/ attack monsters in the right way. Remember, hh is still a weapon that has support feature. The duty of a hh main still includes buffing a whole team beside fighting monsters. Any hh mains who dont do this are just newbies or pure solo players. When it comes to hh, u have to position yourself a lot more and study the moves of monsters carefully so that u wont get slammed by them since the weapon lacks evasive / defensive move. The only thing it has is move cancel ability. Take a look at fatalis fight. U have to break the head as fast as possible before phase 3 begins . Therefore, the spinning move or echo wave attacks are your best bets/ The problem lies in its attack moves. it has 3 extremely devastating attack that can cart u easily: the crawling, the vertical flame spraying and finally, the one shot fire ball that has really wide range. Anything that stands right in front of fatalis is doomed for sure if got hit by any of these moves. If u spin or doot wave attacks on its head without consideration for those moves , boom u are done. U have to time your attack precisely so that u still have a chance to cancel attack and roll away like a mad man. It took me 20 failed hunts to master this . The other weapons dont have to face this issues since they all have some evasive/defensive moves or ranged advantages (ranged weapons). U see , hh is very meticulous about timing. U have to match your timing with the monster' attack so that u can use your only survival move: move cancel. Therefore, it is harder than many other weapons. If it is that easy, why does only 1 percent of mhi players chooose it? Because it is hard and very unforgiving .
@@poundmycroft5873 this is the most neckbeard "hh is actually a very complicated weapon" word vomit i've ever read. dunning-kruger in full effect. none of the strawman arguments in your blog was even alluded to in his post, all he said was how important echos were to keep up viable damage, which you actually fucking repeated so good job on reading comprehension "why do only 1% of players use it?" "because it is hard and very unforgiving" lol and lance was just as low in player numbers. are you going to argue that it's super complicated too? ROFL
No idea how to ping the author. But OMG this guide turned me from a blundering noob that came from IG that gets hit for fun by monsters into someone that actually does good dmg and uses way way less Mega HP. I know this for a fact as I used the PC DPS team viewer and combo dps Mod. If the various weapon speed runners all make guides like this, picking up new weapons would be way way way easier. Seriously you explain in 20 minutes what people will take hours and maybe never pick up.
Well, I’m here again. Fresh off the Sunbreak Demo, having done the Wirebug Yo-Yo with a big ole sumo frog. But I’ve been doing it the way I did in Rise. I did it using the advice I found HERE. I’m not sure how much the new moves and readjusted motion values have changed the potential damage outputs. Got any insights for future Hunting Horn players, Deus? Any thoughts or advice on Sunbreak’s changes?
They removed almost all the tech from the original horn, and removed all the nuance, like the forward>backward into overhead swing, being able to move during encore, reduced its strongest move to a charge gauge that gives a 20 second buff that is hardly worth a damn, made it so you simply flail around and you magically hit things (also Rise 100% has auto-aim on monster heads if you are close enough). I dont have to think anymore, i literally have more fun and thoughts to process using the freakin Dual Blades, which prior to Generations was an absolute snoozefest of a weapon, and now even THAT weapon has more nuance than the Rise horn, the songs and recitals are absolutely brain dead to play. The Rise horn does have some really cool things going for it, the encore move itself, is actually really good, but i wish they would just make it a regular move instead of having it replace the insanely versatile and powerful moveset the previous encore used to be in previous games, would it be SO HARD to give us the old Encore moves but not have our hunter stand around for a year playing it and just make it instant like the Rise Encore does currently? I get it, they needed certain buttons on the switch to be freed up for the wirebugs, and i applaud capcoms' bold choice to completely redesign the weapon, and its likely that they wont ever revert it back to the way it was since the weapon has Dectupled in popularity since world, instead of being used by only 1% of the player base like it has done in previous games, but...did you have to mess with our baby so much Capcom? you had it right in Iceborne, just bring back Icebornes horn with instant melody and recitals with Sonic Waves doing damage, hell id even accept using Mag Trio if it wasnt spammable like it is right now.
This right here is beautiful. I really hope they put all of these really cool moves into recitals and make it instant like you suggested. I wouldn’t even mind near miss hyper armor when preforming an encore.
1000000% agreed. I had 1000 plus World hunts on horn and Rise horn is just soooooo boring. In World a ton of horns had different songs and there for different combos to master. In Rise every horn is the same basic, brain off, combo. I think making the horn look cooler and more like a horn tootin' bad ass was a GREAT change but they took away everything else that already made people feel that way. Mastering a certain horn in World felt like mastering a song itself and, since most horns had unique songs, you kind of are. Keeping 100% buff uptime while keeping damage on the monster was a high like no other and now uptime is always 4 or 6 buttons away. I miss old horn so much.
Thank you for this guide..are there any improvement in sunbreak coz this video is 1year ago.im just only curious if theres any other combo improvement?
I watched a couple times and wasn't able to tell from all the info. In one clip Infernal Melody falls off before Earthshaker lands, and in another it falls off before the 2nd hit of Earthshaker lands. How much damage is lost (if any) in these scenarios ?
Im devoted to Huntin Horn right now, been practicing with teostra. I still sub 13 on it my, goals right now to sub 10 Teo then i move on to other quest 🤣🤣
15:46 can someone tell me why this happens sometimes? you queue all 3 notes, then you play another note, taking away the 3 different notes and leaving you with 2 notes (not meeting the magnificent trio requirement) but magnificent trio still stays because you unlocked it by getting all 3 notes… does it always stay? does it go away sometimes?
Biggest Respect for Hunting Horn Mains, I am glad you got a very Strong Rework that still keeps the essence. Someday MY Lance Main Days will be rewarded aswell and i hope we will keep our "Wall" mentality
The rework throw to the window all the HH old concept. I mained HH in 5 MHs (World/Iceborne too, for more than 450h), and this retarded version of the weapon makes me quit the game.
To preempt comments about Melodic Slap and Bead of Resonance: Melodic slap is a weaker, slower move with awkward hitboxes. It has higher stun value, but nowhere near high enough to matter, nor to warrant losing Overhead Slam (our strongest hit outside of Earthshaker). Melodic Slap MIGHT result in a slightly earlier stun, though unlikely. The monster WILL run out of health before Melodic Slap generates an extra stun over how many you would normally get. Never run Melodic Slap. Bead of Resonance has 2 things going for it. Neither of those two things are damage. Bead falls so far behind Earthshaker it's laughable, even in the most optimal circumstances of a monster standing still over the bead for the entire duration. If you hit 1/3 Earthshakers you make, you're already doing more damage than Bead ever could. 1 - Bead provides Attack Up song, so horns without Attack Up song get it! This is a small factor because all the strongest Hunting Horns, typically known as 'meta' horns, or horns that will result in the most damage/fastest clear times, come with Attack Up already. See Graveon's video in the description for guidance on which horns and sets to build. 2 - Bead duplicates songs. This is basically only useful for Healing melody. Healing Horn has a place in Monster Hunter, but that place is not in dealing damage. If you want to play Healing Horn, by all means, go for it, but do it on your own time where it doesn't affect other players. Again, see Graveon's video for why Healing Horn is bad for multiplayer. The 3rd benefit of Bead is that its deployment does slashing damage and so you can cut tails. Don't do this. The first hit of multicrush can also cut tails. Still don't do this.
Please please don't run Healing Horn unless you're helping noobs! It turns off Valstrax's set, which is a huge damage loss whenever you're above 80% health.
Beads not meta *yet*. But it's not unusable. Just like the gunlance, it may be the worst technically for now, but unless your a speed runner it really doesn't matter what you choose to play.
Afaik Bead is only meta if you use it in a build where attack melody isn't on the Horn. Its great for recovery horns where you can just spam HP. I could see G rank adding a really op Recovery Horn but who knows.
Bead will never be meta. It's damage is so laughably low compared to Earthshaker that that is never a consideration. Even when Bullfango horn was our strongest option, bead STILL wasn't used for attack up melody
@@sabetwolf its almost like you don't know the purpose of Bead is to spam HP and Sonic Waves with Echo. No one uses Bead for the damage it does on hit. We **may** get new armor skills with G-Rank skills like True Dragonheart or something like Sonorus Secret(Sonorus can reach level 3 making Sonic Waves more OP)
@@a_guy_in_orange7230 well you actually need performance mode: purple which doesn’t come out until G rank. Trust me about this information, my uncle works at capcom
Well your getting advice from a speed runner so they're going for max damage output. There are others out there that do build healer/support/mushmancer/ elemental to work with the horn but you'll probably have to do a bit of asking around or figuring stuff out. I personally run Elemental/Mushmancer builds as they fit my play style over pure DPS builds and fit in better with the people I usually hunt with but you will find people if you play with randos who will get grumpy if you run these because it ruins their precious meta valstrax set... so it doesn't hurt to have one slugger/bludgeoning set in your back pocket when you do come across those hunters. 😉
God I hate how boring HH is in rise. Capcom butchered it. It was so much more interesting to play in world, now the best combo is literally two buttons back to back and then two buttons on down. I feel so cheated out of the skill I developed to be a great HH player in world. It used to be about smart queueing, excellent positioning, and support. Capcom should be ashamed of themselves for what they've done to it. I need world 2
this has legit to be the best no bullshit tutorial for the H i have seen ever. i hate it when people waste like 5 minutes to show off all the basic attacks, just tell me which ones to use and preferably why and what combos are good. as a CB main who had to learn almost everything from scratch because there just has never been a really good tutorial like this i can safely say that you just saved me about half a year of playing the weapon just to fully understand EVERYTHING about it. feels like i now know everything i need to know, thanks buddy!
Thank you so much for this! Between learning a more efficient combo path and i-frames on performance mode ZR, this has been really helpful. Today my times went down quite a bit. Thank you!
