Set in English: gyazo.com/aa9d7a6297a4eedf106372595409ceec There are still many things to improve but it is a base of what I want to achieve. Thanks all for the support!
Thanks for the set in English! Can you please also put a screenshot of all your camera/controls settings with gyazo as well. Like directional control type, you play on type 1 or type 2, etc. It would really help me better optimize my greatsword. You're really good at greatsword, I saw the 10 steps video and got motivated haha.
Commander: [Pointing at the map] This is the placement of the cannons. There are also two ballistas available, plus a roaming one. And finally a couple of dragonators here and here. Aris: Haha... Greatsword goes CRUNCH!
Oh my god, is that it!? I was doing farming runs to break his horns, trying to 'bait' the cone -- but I felt like it was only ever coming out when I was knocked back and unable to react to it in time. This explains so much! I'm not confident in being able to solo Fatallis yet, but this should greatly improve how fast I can break both horns.
@@BlueShellshock Check Cons OA videos. He has many strategies including this one. There was where I learned it. He was a bit salty because the videos where a bit early on and many guys were calling him a liar cuz THEY were not positioning correctly so they thought he was faking his videos somehow. He had to do a non-attacking run where he just keep cone-baiting fatalis again and again, several times per minute, the whole time.
take notes guys, this man barely spends any time flaling around with weapons drawn. Peak GS play is about knowing where your hit zones are going to be.
Absolutely beautiful! I've been waiting to see what smol punishes can GS use since Fatty doesn't have much long openings with most of its moves. Those three TCS openings for phase 3 novas will definitely be useful. Thank you and keep up of the good work!
no idea if you still play or not, but fatalis has a bunch of tcs openings that are pretty tight but manageable! the flamethrower moves especially are great (both standing and down position), his enrage roar and even the transition coming out of the 2nd nova(the big blue fire bubble effect where he roars)
Nice run! I'll probably try using Hammer against him again thanks to this video. Ironically seems easier without a Palico and Shieldspire since you're baiting out cone attacks consistently.
Slow walking to see what attack animation is coming next = Big dick energy. Then there is me. Dodge rolling all over the place into attacks that one shot me. Great video!
no joke, this makes me want to pick up greatsword again. i kinda put it down after alatreon was released, i was super discouraged from it because of greatswords elemental prowess, or lack thereof. but now that that little nightmare is over, i might just go back now!
Alright the staying in the middle of thr Flame Flex on Fatty is pretty good but I see why it works. It's because his head is fully broken so his flame attack is way weaker and it sets up some more damage! Maybe in the future another attempt maybe when Fatty is flying put a Temporal Mantle and Tenderize his head!
Man its amazing how you can manipulate him to go down on all 4's and shoot his Flamethrower. Ive been trying to emulate you and i see that move about 20%of the time you get him to do. Rock on
Damn, this was so beautiful! I admire your attack to the head while facing the camera. That seems so hard to pull off. I need to practice that to see if that can boost my damage output!
Now I finally have the confidence to kill this beast. I've been struggling with Fatalis for so long now. Now I've seen some good tricks to take with me into this fight.
Finally did it. I used the Gamma Velkhana frostcraft set and literally started crunching his head till his skull was a fleshy pile of brains, bone, and sinew
Thanks for this. Although I have beaten Fatalis already(25min lol) I learned a lot on the timing and positioning for Fatalis. Especially this 3:04, that is so wonderful, satisfying and educational.
It depends on the position of the hunter, with a good position you can force many cone attacks, but it is not 100% sure to get it. This run is very old, the combat vs Fatalis with GS has improved a lot since a few years ago.
I just beat Fatalis with greatsword since i'm getting used to the weapon because i want to learn another playstyles and got it in 22" with the dragonator and roaming ballistae, i don't think it's a really good time since i can beat him with Longsword (my main) on 16" but well, to be the first try it's not that bad either, i mean, i beat Fatalis like 33th times already? and i learned his pattern very well, so it was not that difficult to beat him once more, next weapon is Hunting Horn! i learned various things from your run, amazing as always Aris, hope to see you on Sunbreak soon. :D
Y'all... I need some advice. I've been trying to learn GS for a while now, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I'm confident in my handle on the controls and the weapon's mechanics. My issue seems to be the monsters themselves. I'm having a really hard time learning proper GS positioning and timing in accordance to a monster's moveset. Mainly because, I'm not sure how to go about practicing. Anyone got good methods for learning positioning and timing for GS? I've been at this for over a month and I don't feel like I'm improving.
I learnt with Tigrex because it was predictable (in older games at least, i didn't fought many Tigrex in World) , I think the best you can do is fight with easier monsters and observe, you will take more time defeating the monsters but it will be faster and easier every time.
@@TheChrisTre that's kind of what I've been doing already. Maybe I just need to slow down or something, I dunno. I'm a Hammer and Swaxe main for the most part. Still need some knowledge for those, but not as much as GS.
@@Revhie i think Hammer and GS are similar, you need to wait and strike at the right moment with a charged attack. You don't need to always go for a charged slash, sometimes a normal slash is just ok but if you are not confortable with GS you can try other weapons like Dual Blades for example. In world I do better with faster weapons because is a faster paced game than its predecesors. I'm only trying GS with Fatalis because is a slow monster that punish close combat, with Alatreon I would never go with GS.
@@TheChrisTre I'm already pretty familiar with almost all the melee weapons. GS is the last one on my list to improve with, just getting a little frustrated lol. I've almost always used either Hammer or Swaxe in past games with basically no issue. I never bothered with GS, so it's pretty new to me.
My advice would be to learn a hit and run tactics with GS. The first slash hits really good and even better full charged. I think you should first learn doing that while observing monster patterns. TCS could come later and I think would come naturally as you learn the hit and run approach. Oh and don't get greedy and overcommit because GS is, well, slow :D
