The lyrics: Holding steady, so get ready for battle, Meteron Heat and fire we desire To battle we are sworn Ever burning, ever yearning Ever learning, we’ll always be Are you siding with me? Ever striding, are we Orchestral Innocence, It's my journey to perceive common sense, Give me something to believe. I don’t remember when I don’t remember how I fell I can see only half way through the dark Memory is a fire that needs a spark If you remember when, if you remember how Just cover up the void in my heart Cover me I will cover you I know tomorrow leads us on, in every way The past has flown (the past has flown) Over the edge, and the paths along the sea The battle has grown, we’re all we can be There is truth, there is right That’s the only thing we know And the way we show we are enrolled in the minute Live, like we’re in it, to the end And when the battle seems long We solider on, we will defend (Fight for this world) Holding steady, so get ready for battle, Meteron Our resistance is our existence For battle we were born, We hope for tomorrow, our purpose we borrow It’s the light of this mission seeing us to the dawn Holding steady, so get ready for battle, Meteron Heat and fire we desire To battle we are sworn Ever burning, ever yearning Ever learning, we’ll always be Are you siding with me? Ever striding, are we Orchestral There’s a wall to surroundings that exist Can’t recall, but it’s something that I miss I don’t remember why, I don’t remember who I am. I’m alive, I’ll fulfill a plan unknown I revive a belief I’m not alone If you remember why, if you remember who, This curious adventurer is Talk to me, I will talk to you The joy of living coupled with uncertainty It’s hard to face (It's hard to face) But with the dreams, and the home you share with us We found our place, and someone to trust There is strength, there is might That’s the only road we choose And the way we bruise all of the ones who oppose us Everyone knows us, we are strong We come together in heart, a work of art We all belong (Fight for this world) Holding steady, so get ready for battle, Meteron Our resistance is our existence For battle we were born We hope for tomorrow, our purpose we borrow It’s the light of this mission seeing us to the dawn Holding steady, so get ready for battle, Meteron Heat and fire we desire To battle, we are sworn Ever burning, ever yearning Ever learning, we’ll always be Are you siding with me? Ever striding, are we Oh with fate in your hands Go it is our destiny, oh Orchestral Repeat (back to top) After second loop: Holding steady, wo oh So get ready, wo oh Holding steady, wo oh So get ready, wo oh Repeat (back to top)
"There’s a wall to surroundings that exist, I can’t recall but it’s something that I miss, I don’t remember why, I don’t remember who I am. I’m alive, I’ll fulfill a plan unknown I revive, a belief in not alone If you remember why, if you remember how, This curious adventure is teaching me, I will talk to you" For some reason those lines lead me to believe that we are playing as the same Guardian from base PSO2
@@V1353 the song definitely leaves a lot for us to try and interpret, which is great. Hopefully we see some cool theory crafting videos soon. The only bad thing about the song, is that they managed to get more story and character development into a 5min song then what they have managed with the game so far, which really shows how bare bones the story in the game has been so far.
Nice write up. I do have a correction though. "Holding steady so get ready for battle Meteron, our resistance is our existence for that we were born" is actually "Holding steady so get ready for battle Meteorn, our resistance, is existence, for battle we were born""
@@V1353 Tbf, there are quite a few hints that it is the same one and that the land is actually a simulation. I wouldn't put it past them to do such, even though NGS is technically PSO3.
This is really the kind of soul I feel like a lot of NGS lacked for a while. Hoping the rough beginning can get turned around into something as special as PSO2 eventually.
ngs needs more of these kinds of events and fights that you can just queue up for and like some traditional dungeons or mission selects or something and less PSE bursts in combat zones
PSO2 base is so looked fondly upon because it is finished, but not many really talk about the development of it as time went on. We'll get there, just as PSO2 base became legendary.
I remember the fear I felt when Dark Falz' health filled back to full and we were all screaming *WHAT?!* Then the lyrics blasted out and someone screamed "WELCOME TO NEW GENESIS." THIS. is what makes NGS. Give us more urgent quests that remind us of PSO2 and we won't complain.
Listening to the lyrics, this isn't just some "yeah it's time to really kick some ass" moment. It's straight up singing about your trials and the loss of memory you suffer, as have all Meteorn. They basically made a theme song preaching your party's refusal to die against something that should otherwise be wiping you out.
Between the excellent orchestration that has such a strong driving melody and beat, the lyrics recounting the story since landing does the amazing job being emotional. Most notably, this phase song is once we break the pocket area and see Central City beneath us. Our new home, our new friends, in danger if we don't stand and fight; together.
Never thought they'd cram so much emotion into a vocal piece with so little story background to work with so far.... I shouldn't be surprised though. It's PSO. :D
Now that I think about it... someone mention that this is the song for us player not other character... so perhaps the story background come from there
Pso2 had extensive story I'm legit sad af by the sheer lack of story in ngs, especially with such an emotional song. How much content did the devs cut to appease the people that were crying about the old pso2 story length...I hope the devs get their act together cuz this is bs. Sorry I'm overly passionate about this 😅 I should go outside or something.
This song is such a mood. It's so personal of a song for what little bit of story we've gotten so far and I feel like it''l only age better as we accomplish more and more as NGS evolves and grows moving forward. But even just now, with just what we have it feels like this isn't Dark Falz's boss music, nah. This is OUR boss theme that Dark Falz hears when it fights US, it's just so badass that we hear it and it pumps us up.
Seriously, the first Phase of the song is the Dark Falz theme, however, once they can no longer fly, and both you and the Boss are on the Platform, the game is like, "Guess the Player is the boss now." seeing that most, if not all the attacks in the second phase look desperate, like it's on its last leg, before it dies.
After listening to this again; the song, in my mind, seems to be our backstory. "I don't remember where, I don't remember how I fell." Something happened to ARKS that may have gotten us nearly killed. My theory is the story is going with either: A. Breath of the Wild backstory (Calamity befell ARKS and we nearly die fighting it) B. Shadow the Hedgehog backstory (AKA Casra was right; ARKS Civil War that seals us away out of fear of our power) Regardless whether either are true or not this song confirms we definitely are the same character from PSO2.
I'm sticking by my theory that this is all a simulation. - The planet is clearly artificial - The DOLLS are similarly entirely technological - The infrastructure of Halpha is a joke, nobody could've survived centuries with a capital city the size of a (small, non-American) shopping mall and a couple of broken facilities - VR training facilities are strewn about the land without rhyme or reason. - Where are all the ships? Each was the size of multiple cities. Just landing them would provide tons of living space and defence against the DOLLS. - Why are our servers still named for the ships? - Stasis and transport never messed with memories before, why now? - Creatures from various different worlds in PSO2 somehow all together on the same planet
@@zephyr8072 na it sounds too simple, feel like Sega would play with the concept just for complexity's sake, for the simulation route I'd go with 'you are also a simulated being based on your PSO2's character battle data, the real Halpha is facing a Dark Falz crisis and they're simulating old ARKS from 1000 years ago to see how they handled the situation and they just got lucky they pulled the Guardian's data', which is why we got more than one Meteorn. Your points open up a lot of discussion but at this point everything is a theory, the story is really underdeveloped :|
@@zephyr8072 I'd just like to point out for one of your points, during the beginning of episode 4, they stated that a possible side effect of being in cryo stasis was memory loss, and it was something they were legitimately worried about. That was for the player being in there for 2 years. It has been 1000 years since then, in New Genesis, and the pods you drop in look suspiciously like cryostasis pods.
This is phase 3, actually. Phase 2 happens before the canon fires, then it fires and the boss gets a full health bar and you get to show it that it's not quite enough. Of course, Dark Falz survives, but that just means Round 2 down the line.
@@jgkitarel Of that im aware of course. Cant quite call it Red phase as phase 2 since there's a second healthbar (or im just used to calling a second phase when there's a second lifebar lol) And yes, an eventual round 2 is definitely unavoidable just like how we fought Elder for two separate forms. Here's to SEAG giving us more boss like this one!
whenever this UQ appear, and come to phase 2... it instantly send a shivers right down to my spine, i feel like fighting the last boss.... that feels to win and conquer it... as ranger main dodge run n blight it feel much more harder than normal UQ. The best OST so far after dark to light especially htpd moment
This is unbelievable with how much emotion for how honestly underdeveloped Dark Falz was, I was expecting the fight to come a lot later than _Retem_ Though, it'll make sense if it ends up just being the equivalent to Elder, considering the multiple arms
@@neonexus9660 Honestly, im kinda concerned that the entire planet has metal in the caves and ground and mountains, even metal in the trees makes me wonder if the planet is artificial and man made, i mean think about how close all these different biomes are to each other.... that doesn't seem natural. also nobody even knows where the traineeas came from from, or why they have dolls in them for practice but its like... an actual wonder if the planet is a training facility gone wrong.... cuz that "Dark Falz" doesn't remotely look like a darkfalz it just looks like a doll, but if dolls are based on falspawn as training dummies, thats some dark shit if this is all just for training and people are actually damn dying on a tutorial level.
@@vixenxia2475 The planet could as well be the surface of the ARKS Mothership, which is a planet in itself (and from the quests you play inside in PSO2, completely technological on the surface). The biomes are so varied and close to each other because the whole continent the story is set on might have used to be a reserve for wildlife collected by the Oracle fleet, which also explains why PSO2 native species are present on Halpha. I hope we'll be getting some story to bridge the two games honestly, even if the main character isn't the Guardian but some random ass ARKS.
@@shadowdivided Also Over the Universe, Eden, Borderless, Leygender, Omega Luther's Theme,Ooze (PSO2 ver), Idola and the Strange fruits (PSO2 ver) and Battle Stars (also known as All Arks)
In this case it makes sense at least. You're stalling for time, and it's not really a victory more as it is driving it off. Whole New World's the kind of theme for when it's time to truly finish something off.
The first time I did the Dark Falz UQ, and this song dropped as his health refilled, I wasn't even upset that the party had to deplete its health AGAIN, because of this song. It cannot be understated how good that feeling is the first time you hear it.
Honestly best fight we had in a really long time. This was an amazing falz fight and i cant wait to see more......so long as they can keep the lag under control
This fight... with this theme song... is just one of the most amazing things I've live in a game, I think. Especially when you know the PS series since the very first and see the references of the ancients episodes, intentionnal or not. Seriously? This is a final boss and Episode fight, not just some new UQ like that. This is so good I can't imagine how good the upcoming bosses will be now. Sega.... awww.
Gonna be honest, while I miss the New World climax theme we get during boss fights in old Pso2, the new Meteorn Climax theme gave me chills when I heard it X) Dammit, more content can't come soon enough lol
@@iliketurtles9192 Yeah, the focus they put on the game so far looks misplaced. They got a great base to work on and the game feels fun to play even when grinding, but they're focusing on extra starting content (ex. new classes) and on making current content feel obsolete too quickly so that players need to keep on the grinding if they want to be up to latest (releasing new stronger weapon/armor/augs 1 or 2 months into current patch) Meanwhile all they would need to do is adding in new quests, more things to do, and focus on QoL improvements
What if that was done on purpose? Think of how confused players are about their role within the game, it's almost the same confusion those with Amnesia would face. Perhaps a good idea, that wasn't well executed.
I was hella dissapointed when the health bar went empty without a 3rd phase. Then I went ??? when the arms came in and try to nuke. And when this started playing as Dark Falz space broke? My lack of faith in NGS received a Fomelgion directly to the face. Absolute god tier fight
I didn't realize how into the story I was my first play through until I heard this song during the fight. This and that moment after defeating Dark Falz where you're pushed by the spirit of a certain someone into the killing blow both had me a little misty-eyed. Even though it was only a few months ago hearing this again makes me very nostalgic :)
Me, hearing the song for the first time on a stream: "This sound corny." Me, hearing the song the first time fighting (in NGS) Dark Falz: "LET'S FUCKING GO!"
NGS Strike Back, When This Kicking In at Last Phase " Goosebumps " Feel Like We're True Hero, Especially If You Play at a Personal Home Theatre & Use Cinematic Bass & Treble With Big Volume, Best Experience Ever xD Bet NGS Actually Had Something in Their Sleeves to Surprise Us More Later, It's Look Like They Holding Up & Keep The Big Gun for Later xD
@@SgtTankDempsey Not true at all as far as normal boss themes go, but this is the first big climax theme, which is definitely another level of music NGS hasn't had yet. (Though yeah PSO2 base is full of an insane amount of great music. :) )
This! Frigging THIS! This is what PSO2 is! Epic bombastic music with a kickass fight! Not the crap NGS has got UQ, i mean they're fine and all, but they just feel like you are fighting a big enemy, THIS makes it Feel like PSO2!
and Aegis is Far More Epic and the chaotic nature of VAs here and there while we battles Dark Falz Aegis while also dodging Its Laser is so intense to the point i feel like i was in there

the game recently had a 3 GB big update for the Feb 2022 content, and the upcoming stuff ended up being inside the data as well, easy for dataminers to scan the files and extract this, as well as icons, images and other visual stuff like weapons, items, cosmetics and more.
Still wish for a Blue burst re release on switch This is nice but I miss the days when Falz actually had a threathening track and story, This song sounds like a hero theme for us instead of a track for the boss, takes me out
I don't know why but this song doesn't resonate with as much as I'd hoped it would. Good song no doubt about that but I really hope this isn't going to be featured in every boss fight going forward like the one in pso2 classic. Could be it feels too western with the english lyrics or that most of my favorite pso2 songs didn't have any lyrics at all
@@kalonem5719 Nope...not a fan personally. All battle themes do not need to have lyrics. Dark Falz is supposed to be the "profound darkness" that comes around every 1000 years or so. Not only has PSO2 ruined that lore but they constantly throw pop songs on what should be threatening bosses. I'm REALLY hoping there is only one DF this time around. And yeah, I get it...it's a Japanese mmorpg. But hell, at least make it sound more ominous. If you haven't heard the one from the original PSO, look that one up and how it transitions into the final battle. Or even the Original Olga Flow fights. For me nothing has hit as hard in PSO2 as the OG PSO tracks.
@@Fade2BlackSS I completely agree with you even though I love this song. Nothing beats the original final battle themes from PSO..I will say though that the theme that I think occurs before this one Dark Falz - Second Invasion has everything that I want in a final boss theme..it’s soooo good and climactic
