It's the newest entry to a dormant shmup franchise dating back to the 80s. Aside from a slew of strategy RPGs for the PSP, the last proper entry was for the PS2. I actually forgot this was a thing they were making myself.
This game is one that requires true patience and gaming ability from the old days. I have loved side scroll blasters any direction since Gradius then Life Force for 2! Every type I have played, Bio Hazard Battle on Genesis is very good but R-Type has been the winner for me every time. Rock on iREM!!!!
For me it’s a mixed bag. It got some good ideas but it’s missing the puzzles and the dread atmosphere. Still, there are some rays of shine now and then.
I named my player as 'Frankenstein' as the space fighter explodes (AAAAHHHH!!!!) Frankenstein floats into space. Luckily, the ship gravity tractor beam pulled him inside the ship to safety. And luckily, no one was injured.....🤣🤣🤣 The End....?
R-Type (Final 2). It's awesome if you don't expect shmup action but rather a trial and error experience where you can have little success moments while listening to great sound tracks. For myself it's more than enough to entertain me. But I do understand the critisizm and negativity.
Agreed. PSX Final was criticized too and, IMO, largely overshadowed by other shmups like Gradius V, but it's an awesome, atmospheric (almost eerie) experience. The lore really took a dark turn with Delta and Final, which made them a lot more interesting than just shooting at everything you see on screen.
Wow man! How the hell do you guys find these safe spots? 😮 Stage Z4 Boss is unfair. You can't play that normally. I tried so many times that I HAD to look up how to beat it. Going by this video and others I've seen so far they all use safe spots. I'm actually glad it's not part of the main game stages. 🤕 Stage Z6 is harder compared to Delta to me. Took me quite a while to get through that one. Stage Z7 Boss is wild. Sweet dodging skills on that! 👍 At least it's not quite as unfair as Z4 in my opinion. Still hard 😡 I'm convinced that DLC stages are for people that thought the main game was too easy and wanted more sadistic challenges. Some of the DLC stages are reasonable while others are for masochists. I applaud you guys for beating those crazy ones on Normal and higher difficulty. I still enjoy this game and glad it's made. Now I await R-Type Cosmos. I just wished I knew about the crowdfunding that now has ended with Cosmos. I wanted to get some backer rewards like R-Type Final 2. I wonder if there will be a future additional crowdfunding campaign? R-Type Final 2 had a couple of them even when funded.
@@user-dy6zy2gq3j In which one? Truxton? Gleylancer? Thunder Force 4?...Played shooters since the late 80s. Can't even think of one game that has such a lazy end theme. Even R Type Final on the PS2 has an epic showdown theme.
@@Pholiage It's actually Thunder Force III. Also you need to consider the alarm as a SE instead of BGM. It's the sound from the last Boss and it pitch higer when the boss Hp goes lower, and it makes sense. In that case they don't even have any BGM at all which is acceptable for me because BGM actually works as a 4th wall breaker. If you're the fighter himself you'll not gonna hear up-beat epic music when you force your way out of all this chaos.
From the player who was play R-Type delta in PS1 , That soundtrack on stage Z6.0 is " SUCK " and some redesign is terrible ,the original was G.O.A.T in this stage.
