【river clam】Catch and cook: Sacramento river clam, wild walnut picking, Oroville dam salmon fishing

River clam, or Asian clam, is an invasive spices in Sacramento River. Caught some with a rake ( www.amazon.com/Exact-Design-A... ) and they are super tasty! Picked some wild walnut too. Cast a while for river salmon at Oroville dam but got no bite. Great day hanging around California central valley :P

These clams have sands inside. You need to let them live for a couple days to spit out the sands. We kept the clams alive for 3+ days using an oxygen bubbler.

i was getting them on a muddy area with no sand so they actually have no sand in it

I always wonder where I can find fresh water clam... ty... just wonder how you would cook them tho because I know fresh water clam is not as safe as sea claim.. like what to look for

I'm curious. Considering the clams have their shells shut tightly until they're dead, how well does the flavor of the garlic, pepper, and sauerkraut actually flavor the meat? I'd think that would mostly just flavor the shells...

@@skinnypenguin5857 hi. dont eat clam at sacramento river. they full of pesticide pouring from rices field. if you wanna eat clam go to american river in howe. water little cold but less toxic, less stuff, but dont eat them any way cuz homeless poluted the water so bad.

In places where they're legal, you'd generally be able to buy them in the same shops that sell fishing poles, tackle, etc.

of course i have my fishing license. and clam have their own delicate water filtering system so i wont worry about the water quality at all.
