Tempoyak really is a versatile ingredients. U can cook it so many ways! Tempoyak ikan patin, ikan bakar tempoyak, pais tempoyak (normally peole use fish wrapped in banana leaf). And maybe u can try cook your own! Here is my recipe of Gulai Masam Tempoyak Ayam : Chicken of course (maybe u can use just half chicken but cut it nicely) 10-15 bird eye chili (depends on spicy level) 2-3 tablespoon of tempoyak 1-2 inch of turmeric Blend it all to become a paste. Daun kesum ( I believe it is called vietnamese coriander in english) Asam keping ( if u are using a not so sour tempoyak) A little bit of water Salt Oyster mushroom (optional) it can be good cause you dont have to cook another dish as vegies. Firstly, put it the cleaned chicken in a pan. Pour all of the blended ingredient onto the chicken. Turn on the stove. And cook it slowly, I love to cook it with slow/medium heat. And the put in the star of the dish which is tempoyak itself. And slowly cook it again. U can add the daun kesum and also asam keping if it is not that sour. If u like it with a lot of gravy, add some water. Finally add salt and oyster mushroom. Still well and tadaaa. Its done. It really is scrumptious! I bet that you will like it. Happy trying.
You can eat fresh durian with rice too. The fresh durian mixed a little bit with grind fresh chilli to make it spicy then eat with white rice, ulam & fried fish or chicken.
heiii thats where i live and born.. thats my hometown.. i live and play there... miss that place but too crowded to live there now.. happy for you, we malaysian love to give things free without needed anything in return
The reason why these food stalls and vendor like you is because you took the time to ask them about their food, life and culture. They enjoy it when customers are interested with their food, they tend to be more friendly.
The owner is so kind, nice hospitality he showing toward you, and yes the food is delicious, i wish to completed my 2nd dose of vaccine and if everything going well and if i got permission to travel, i will go to there to taste that wonderful fish. Don't cry Kazu, cheer up!

it's not a surprise if u get it for free, coz in Malaysia some owner will give it for free. but it's really a surprise that he gave the 'patin buah liar (wild)' for free. coz that fish price way too expensive. there's few cases happened whn some costumer had go find ATM mechine to pay since the dont bring enough cash. coz for 'patin buah liar' can cost u total RM100+ and i saw ur hand skill improved a lot. u look like real Malaysian eating thr already. nice job
He gave you patin liar and prawn, my man thats's hella expensive. The owner is so nice! If there's one thing about patin tempoyak, you must eat them while it's hot.
eating with your hand, superb, trying local cuisine marvelous, just lack of.......companion to share your experience. Next time you might need to invite your fellow Japanese cute girl with you.... much better.
Of course bro we malaysia alway think that friendship and kindness more important than money and something else. So the more we give and the more god will bless you👍😁
Bagus nya KAZ..kamu seronok makan makanan di Malaysia...pergi dan cari lagi tempat tempat yang masakan yang ada..ada lagi banyakkkkkkk..okay...tapi ikan patin tempoyak itu memang terbaik .
Hi Kaz. Watching u eat my favourite foods makes me envious and jealous of u, since I can't seem to find them ard d housing place I reside!! Happy to know u enjoy my local dishes!!
That guy is owner's son. This is family business. Yeah, all their food are superb! In normal days, if can dine in, that restaurant is full pax from 12pm to 2pm. Hard to find table. U must see his mom...so welcoming and greet to all customers. The pronounce is 'Kak Nik'. Kak Nik is his mom name..we always call her as Ma..short form 'Mama'.
He didn't give you for free because you were a youtuber, he belanja you because the family was proud a Japanese man travelled especially to their store and wanting to try their specialty. Hell, even I sometimes get that treatment even tho I'm Malaysian cause sometimes when I compliment the food or something they become happy therefore they belanja😂
patin tempoyak knownly as another an expensive fish dishes ever by locals...just head part is almost rm50...some wild patin cost over more than rm100 by gred...you got lucky... the owner treated you as first guest with kindness ...even that prawn dishes is expensive to me..its so worthied too cos this place is very known too....wow..respect to the owner
I really like you mingle with local, hopefully you can learn bahasa melayu after this...but mostly malaysian know how to speak english even the broken english..means that u really need determination to learn malay language but you can mix bm and english to start...he give u free because you already promoted his restaurant unintentionally and you promoted them very well in your channel
wow u are using your thumb to move in the rice and food , thats basic way to eat using hand .. good job KAZ ! my tears running watching u eating those ikan pATIN AND ulam
Dont worry kaz. Sometimes when a person is friendly, malaysian likes to belanja that person. My mom used to own a restaurant like this and treating customers with some free dishes is common.
Because u post this video, i subcribed u bro.. this kak nik patin house is very delicous place if you want find ikan patin tempoyak in Malaysia.. i love this shop 😘😘😘
When you start eating u felt so touched by the kindness and love in the dish... U are very adventurous and respectful to the culture ! I subs you today 🤗👍👍
I still remember when i chang go to one patin tempoyak restaurant and the owner intentionally mark up the price just because i chang is foreigner..but this shop give you one set for free, this is the true malaysian hospitality toward our guest..when we can interstate travel,i wish you could go to other state and experience yourself our hospitality..keep it up kaz
Coincidentally I was there when iChang was filming their patin tempoyak video at Ana Patin House. There’s footage of me and my friend discussing on the amount of rice we should take but ofc no audio (just saying this here to prove that I’m not lying). But.. I don’t think the owner purposely marked up the price. I think she just used the opportunity to sell them the patin buah instead of patin sangkar. I was there and I could see that she’s a strict boss to her staff. Of course she’s not as generous as the owner of Kak Nik Patin Tempoyak as she charge everything they ate but I don’t think she purposely marked up the price. She charged the usual price for iChang & Jimmy but service wise, she could’ve asked them whether they prefer an expensive cut (patin buah) or a cheaper one (patin sangkar). Anyway, I love patin tempoyak from both restaurants ✌🏻
My hometown, Temerloh, is famous with Patin Masak Tempoyak, i used to eat them a lot. I love Patin Masak Tempoyak but the weird thing is i never liked durian lol
