Some quick notes I would like to make for anyone looking to do this, after having done the procedure myself. When you first install the spring that comes in the packet it is horribly stiff. I am talking next to impossible to pull back, or even to install the cylinder head over, unlike this video where the spring appears quite normal to operate. Do not get disheartened like I did, this is normal. After leaving the spring in the gun for about a week and coming back to it, the spring has "broken in" and is now quite managable to pull back, while retaining the stated FPS. Also, disassembling the forward assembly (4:00-4:30 in the video) is not actually necessary to install either of the 2 upgrades. Lastly, the retrofit upgrade kit now actually comes with the hop unit already installed on the barrel, so you do not have to mess with the screws yourself as advised at 22:00-22:20 in the video.

@@MInsoLim7 Not exactly, as pulling the bolt handle up or down has nothing to do with the spring. However, pulling the bolt all the way up in order to be able to pull it back became something that had to be done with intent instead of being able to just tap it up and let the inertia do the work for you, as the very last bit of the bolt's upwards travel pulls the bolt ever so slightly back against the spring (in the real Kar98k this in effect cocked the gun) so you have to force it to counter act this. However after the spring broke in, I find that as long as you 're mindful that the bolt needs to go all the way up to be retracted, it actually takes next to zero extra force to force it completely up. It just doesnt happen automaticaly with the slightlest tap on the bolt head like before.

@@MInsoLim7 Another thing I have found is that after installing the new sear, you really need to be fast and violent when pulling the bolt back in order to engage it and cock the gun. If you try to slowly pull the bolt back with uniform power distribution throughout your pull, the bolt gets stuck just before the sear and you are unable to fully cock it. You really need to pull back with intent and determination as well as agility, something that was not required with the original sear. However this shouldn't be a big issue, as since the upgraded spring is quite strong even after being broken in, a hard pull is required anyway though I have still found myself trying to slowly pull the bolt back a few times, only to have to release it and try again with more oomph.

@@MInsoLim7 Looking at the video Im pretty sure the hop nub is on the hop unit when he ramms it into the other assembly. When you first got the kit the nub would have been held in its proper place by a little piece of pealable plastic. That is where it is supposed to stay when you put it in as well.

@@Raghallach1916 for me the stock hopup was terrible, I couldn’t adjust it. Another thing is that the safety came loose but other than that it’s a great gun

Hi, I have been trying to figure out why my hop up stopped working since I just got it so I went on youtube and found your video which was very informative. However the hopup arm fell out while I was adjusting something, any advice on how to put it in? everything seems to work fine, I just wanted to know about the arm and how to correctly put it back in with the other small parts in there.

Hello, it's not necessary to remove the HOP arm during the normal installation/disassembly process, if you want to check the parts please check with your user manual / parts list, thank you :)

Hi Jackie, thanks for the really informative video, the instructions and information have been super handy. Currently stuck around 18:15 where one re-installs the trigger. Pulling the trigger doesn't appear to be engaging the sear allowing the piston to be released enabling the gun to be fired, I've checked and the sear is correctly installed and none of the springs are missing. I am using a higher power spring (~470 FPS w/ 0.2s). Any tips for resolving this?

Hello, recommend check all install steps and re-install correctly all the trigger parts again, if pulling the trigger and doesn't released the piston like 18:55, please really pull the cylinder to the end again and pull the trigger, thank you :)

Hi, if you want to change the spring, you need disassemble the upper receiver and take of the cylinder head (nozzle), please refer 3:22 take off the outer barrel part, then 4:39, remove the PIN and feeding part to change spring, thank you :)

Can someone help me, i have the problem that every time I reload the gun but have no ammo in the magazin, the blot gets stuck and I have to disassemble the whole gun to get the mag out. That can't be normal.

Have you tried pulling the bolt and take off the magazine again? Because the original design of the 98K is that the bolt cannot be reloaded when the magazine is empty.

@@eg8972 Sorry, it's incompatible... about the S&T type38 we just can do some modified on spring guide to replace the normal AEG spring, and replace our own HOP bucking & S+ inner barrel, there is nothing we can do for the rest..

It absolutely will @jimmy5629, Matrix seems to be the blanket brand name that Snow Wolf falls under; I just installed this into my "Matrix" (still a snow-wolf, sw-022) K98k and it works great! Be sure to keep track of every little peice of course.

This gun is a very nice and affordable replica of a Kar98k, too bad it has extremely low volume of a cylinder for a sniper. If only someone would make a bore up version of it *wink wink* But I could see that it would not fare well, since from the beginning this is a not very popular of a platform.

Maybe its air volume is not as large as other mainstream sniper rifles, but it can still perform well after upgrading. It's "old version S&T Kar98k " in video, the structure are the same with SW Kar98k. At present, the most commonly seen in the market is " Another Ver. "

@@TAIWANTNTSTUDIO I have the version that is compatible with the s&t Springfield 1903. Does that mean it’s compatible with these upgrades, the 1903, or neither at all? I’m assuming the hop up unit is more in line with the 1903 as they take the same mags. I know the Kar 98 barrel is shorter though. Also curious about the rest of the parts in case something breaks or whatever. If it’s compatible with your 1903 upgrades, great! Or if it’s compatible with these parts, great! If neither, oh well haha. Appreciate the help and response to my comment!

There are many brands of Kar98K with different internal structures. Are you buying the model SW Kar98K? Is there any problem with the installation part?
