Kanako's theme. ...I once had the opportunity to visit the real-life Suwa Shrine in Japan, and it fueled my fascination with how gods like her function. These lyrics follow her ambitious quest for faith, while navigating themes of "traditional versus modern" and "earth versus sky." With her co-goddess Suwako (earth) representing the foundation, they powerfully coexist, but she wants to put herself in focus and go farther. This is the rhetoric of gathering faith from Gensokyo's youkai, creatures "so much like her" whose existence is similarly rooted in belief. Perhaps it's also the rhetoric she gave to Utsuho in Subterranean Animism: to extend her power upwards from within the earth.
