Err the only thing wrong about how the fandom treats her is how they go overboard on her sadism. The rest is usually accurate with the exception of her speed (which makes zero sense). I mean for a youkai she does her job almost too well as even other youkai fear her which is why she is one of if not the strongest in Gensokyo.
@@IveBeenWithBruma Do you mean Yuuka has insanely high speed, or low speed? If low speed, it is due to her playable character in PoFV literally having one of the slowest speeds of all the characters, suggesting she likes to "take her time and relax" during fights, so she never moves too quickly. If fast speed, in the PC98 games she has been shown to teleport, so it may be an offshoot of that. Neither are really "accurate to canon lore", but they at least do have some reason to be there. Being a strong youkai, she probably can move quite quickly overall(not tengu speed, but still fast) and just prefers to not expend the energy. Although I do have to agree that the fandom treats her fairly poorly. While things are a bit calmer now, most of the time I see people mention her, she is painted as far more openly hostile than she really appears in canon. While she is a serious danger to most people, human or youkai, she is an old youkai and so learned to chill out, and is rather polite and calm unless you attack her first, though she will still tease you, but just teasing in comparison to the usual Gensokyoan trash talk is as polite as you can really get from a youkai to be fair. Even in canon, Akyuu intentionally paints her as far more dangerous than she really is, listing her "friendliness level" as "worst", despite hypocritically showing that the flower shop owner in the village was genuinely and honestly shocked when they heard that "yuuka is a serious threat to humans", because they were so used to the nice and polite Yuuka. Akyuu has bias in making youkai appear more threatening than they really are, but still, even canonically people want to paint Yuuka as more sadistic than she is.
Thank you very much for translating this gem. Repeating myself but I find it amusing that Japenese MMDers are now incapable of producing this kind of content.
