There’s a reason why the CEO of RBW said that Wheein is the backbone of Mamamoo. Her voice can literally back up, blend, and/or pair with any voice, any genre, etc. Of course, this does not discredit the other members at all; they are all talented and skilled. But I think we can all agree that Wheein has the best technique and widest versatility in the group.

I've heard they're lot of singers asked her for collaboration, but not everyone got the chance. ding ding said that she gave our wheepup a channel bag for gratitude for collaborating with her. he's very thankful 😊😊 so i guessed our whee pup is too shy to push a lot of things
@whee in jung That's definitely what I thought, she's collaborated with so many people and groups (even Monsta X), maybe she doesn't want to put out too much so when she releases a solo song it actually means something. :) And we saw her in secret unnies, she was super shy, maybe she just doesn't want to be on variety shows alone.
I totally agree with you! I remember seeing her in a variety show for Chuseok or Christmas ( I can't remember lol) and she was extreeeemely shy. She barely talk with others.
Seriously, her vocal color is just gorgeous and she uses it across various genres to perfection. Sentimental ballads, energetic contemporary jazz numbers, hype hip hop, she can sing it all. Her emotional projection, technique, and passion is just incredible. I love her so much ;_;.
her vocal color is unique and suits duet in my opinion (like her voice is beautiful and not the type of voice that dominates, but certainly not weak either so her voice and her partner's both can shine, just like in this performance), if I was a singer i would definitely want her to sing a duet song with me

I admire the talents of each individual member of MAMAMOO, as well how they blend their talents as a unit. They each bring something different and it is hard to imagine MAMAMOO without each of their special contributions. I will say, however, that after watching several of Wheein's side performances, I am starting to believe it is she who is the driving force and the key contributor to their excellence. It doesn't matter with whom she is paired, which genre, or what type of venue - this girl just slays every time. The range and color of her voice, her energy, her stage presence, her harmonies, her nearly perfect pitch, her body movements, her ability to emote and relate to the audience - it's all there. There is something special about Wheein.
Daniel Contento Your comment has expressed exactly my thoughts on our beautiful Wheein. It made me tear up. Often I feel as if she is overshadowed by her other members. Her job in the group isn't as flashy as rapping, or high notes or adlibs. Her voice is the foundation of Mamamoo's songs so, she is frequently overlooked. You have to really listen to actually notice her sometimes. I'm glad now she is receiving the recognition she's so deserves. 😢

Mamamoo CEO said WheeIn is the backbone of Mamamoo that's why if you notice she always support each member in singing specially Solar did you notice how talented she is excellent in everything. Solar takes care of high notes, Moonbyul calm them/neutralize them as we know they fool around and Hwasa give color/Spice to the group. I don't think she is over shadow as you notice she grab everyone from their bias including me.

yujahri totally agree, i been in K-pop world for about 3 years, i liked some groups BUT i got major goosebumps with mamamoo, at that moment i realized i found the group to Stan, then i check weekly Idol and was so chocked that they werent like other gg who are all quiet , i LOVED THEM ON THE spot... they are not afraid to laugh without covering their mouth, they are talented af, and beautiful, the whole package. I always do marathon of their inmortal song performances ti feel blessed ;)
Wheein has this unique sound that enables her to blend to any other voices like it was meant to be paired...mamamoo's vocalists have their own color and they can all slay ..oh my goood

Damn Wheein’s harmonizations are amazing. Also i remember when wheein said she can’t do whistles like most people do, but your homegirl can do whistles in singing. Wheein-ah do u know your kind of whistle is what most people can’t do? XD
There's really no point of using whistle if they can't use it for a more emotional impact like Mariah did. Plus it's not healthy to vocal chords that's why classical opera singers are against it. On the other hand, head voice is more 'connected' and is the healthier approach especially for vocal longevity and that's exactly what Wheein is using.

I really love this...usually singers force their high notes but they naturally hit it because of the emotion while singing the song. WheeIn's partner really have a great voice but i must appreciate WheeIn. It's hard to be the second voice and wheein's control over her voice plus her low and high notes is pleasant to your ears then the emotion they put in the song is not exaggerated just enough for the song.
For those saying Solar is main vocal, who do not understand Mamamoo.. if you have watch their video, you would know they are vocal.. there's no main or lead vocal...

The comments are about our Wheein being so good at blending with others. I just recently watched a video of their camp where she mentioned this being her worry during her trainee days. She felt like she wasn't any special because she was able to blend in the background, no unique qualities in her voice. But it became her strength aftet their debut. She was saying this because sometimes the things we worry about at a time can become a weapon. The comments reminded me of what she said and im glad she knows people love her for this

I believe at the time this was released Chungha and Somi were in ioi. ioi disbanded after a year of promotions since it was a year since they were top 11 in produce101. Chungha is now a soloist but I believe somi hasn’t debuted yet.

Yes Wheein is good but literally the other girl was AMAZING! She's not even a professional singer but her voice is on point!!! Her voice is so full and she can control it. Going from chest to head voice was so clear and ugghhh!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that girls voice!!!!
