"long time no see, wowaka here" the fact that he was planning on making more songs, returning back to vocaloid absoluteley breaks my heart.. rest well, wowaka
【Milk Tea & Donuts】 I might be thinking of someone else, but I think it was suicide. Looking back on some of his songs, it seems like he was fighting against it for a while. It's sad to think about...

@@llounafrederique2131 wowaka is the person who made this song along unhappy refrain, worlds end dancehall and rolling girl and died in april 5th 2019 due to heart failure
Hey just a note to all the shocked commenters―wowaka's been making music all this time!! Please check out Hitorie, his band! wowaka composes, sings, and plays guitar. His bandmates make him so happy and it warms my heart so much, please give them a listen!
Do you know how to use a VPN? If you download one and set it to Japan, it works perfectly! Some songs are also on wowaka's Niconico. Alternately you could just... download all their music, which I have links to, but that's morally debatable
Bushra R. Oh, you can also buy their albums from cdjapan if you want to get them through that method. Some songs from WONDER and WONDER seem to have been mirrored on RU-vid and be unblocked, like Nazenaze and Senseless Wonder, so there's that option too, although it's a very limited selection! I think Dailymotion has some mirrors to their music videos as well, I know I saw Talkie Dance and I think I saw Antithesis Junkgirl there. Tumblr PROBABLY has some uploads, or maybe Twitter, where the Hitorie fanbase is most active to my knowledge
Bushra R. m.soundcloud.com/tiramicchan/sets/roomsick-girls-escape Soundcloud is one not exactly official place. They also have music on Spotify! If you want to support them, you can buy Japanese iTunes gift card codes on a site like Japan Codes so you can buy their music from iTunes Japan. Wowaka has improved so much. I love Hitorie, sigh. Thanks for spreading the good word.
Not many people talk about this, but here’s the meaning of the song. The song is a bit like Unhappy Refrain: It’s about the recognition and credit that Wowaka didn’t receive. Some don’t know this, but after the song Unhappy Refrain came out, Wowaka took a long break from making Vocaloid songs, some argue that this was because of his band Hitorie, but you can tell by Wowaka’s last song before the hiatus that he wasn’t satisfied in the Vocaloid community. Unhappy Refrain was about the credit Wowaka didn’t get, because people credited Miku, not Wowaka. Unknown Mother Goose is about the same thing, a song about why he left. You can see in the lyrics that it’s about Wowaka not getting credit “Can you see me?” Can you see Wowaka and not just Miku? “A forgotten story” Wowaka was forgotten The line “Pick me up again” was a mistake on Wowaka’s part. He admitted that the lyric is supposed to be “Give me love again”, people misunderstood it. “Give me love again” Give him credit, attention, love again It’s sad how Wowaka’s last Vocaloid songs were about an unsatisfaction with Vocaloid music, but I’m sure he’s happy to know that he’s getting the recognition, love and attention even though he’s gone. edit, here’s a link to a translated statement by wowaka regarding why he left and why he wrote the song. kazarinn.tumblr.com/post/164575872097/translation-of-wowakas-statement-regarding-his/amp
Do you have a source where it says that he meant to say 'give me love again' and not 'pick me up again'? Because as far as I was aware, this song is more about Wowaka returning to Vocaloid and thanking Miku for everything she did for him, hence the name 'Unknown Mother Goose': he confesses that Miku was sort of a mother-figure to him. Despite all the trouble he has had with her and with Vocaloid in general, he still returns to Miku in the end.
@@a.c.e.-6316 I agree with this interpretation. I think people seem to misinterpret or read the lyrics very straight forward when wowaka was always know for making his lyrics very vague. I personally believe this song while yes, showing the same themes of Unhappy Refrain also shows wowaka’s appreciation towards Miku despite all that he experienced. Miku is what got him into fame in the first place, it’s why he views her as a mother figure, because she set the path for him to become a producer
Y’know this song definitely hits a certain way. It feels like an extension or sequel to rolling girl and unhappy refrain more so the latter. Like Rolling girl made me feel depressed and frustrated at how useless it all was. Unhappy Refrain made me feel frustrated and jealous at the world for not recognizing who I was and tossing me to the wayside. This song is different as in it gives off a feeling more akin to gratitude and acceptance. Lines like “can you see me?” Or “I wonder if it’s ok to try and entrust those feelings unknown to all upon this voice just one more time?” Really do feel like Wowaka wrote this song with unhappy refrain in mind because it basically answers the feelings of frustration found in that song in a way. This song feels like a love letter to his fans, to Crypton, to Miku herself as if to say despite everything he’s grateful to us and to them for all the support over the years.
I know a couple of people already addicted to this song. The legendary CrusherP included. Wowaka may have passed away, but he passed with a flying colour and went out with a style. His last piece is legendary.
I agree with your theory, as awful as it is, in a way it is also beautiful that he at least got to give his fans this song before he passed away: it's a much more peaceful last song than Unhappy Refrain would have been.
"Hey, if you want to scream about your love, I'll be right here." This line struck me the most esp. now he went into a peaceful slumber. He was my inspiration. As a writer, I loved how vague his lyrics were. Rest in peace, wowaka.
I am still very new to volcaloid and still stick almost only to miku So i didn't know who wowaka was so a while ago i asked myself how old he was and how he even died i was suprised of how young he was it sadened me But i really like this song one of my favourites so far
@@yesimcringy_ Yeah it seems a lot of people don't understand that SEGA can't just take a dead mans song to profit off of it, for both legal and moral reasons.
@@calicocat6057 SEGA has shown that they actually care about and respect wowaka, though. Every time there's a concert with a wowaka song, they do a tribute. Or maybe that's just Crypton.
I'm a kinda new Vocaloid fan so I haven't truly experienced what it was like to have a bunch of iconic producers be dead in the vocaloid scene for years. I guess I really am lucky that I became a fan just when all the the most iconic and best vocaloid producers all came back to life in the Vocaloid scene.
Loop_Zoop i did experience seeing these iconic producers dead in the vocaloid scene because i was around for a while. Now I have to see yet another iconic producer dead for real. RIP Wowaka.
i’m crying in the school bathroom as i write this, but rest in peace wowaka. you were amazing and made a big impact on vocaloid music and in people’s hearts and lives with your amazing music. thank you. thank you so much.
Rest in peace Wowaka. I'll never forget how happy I was when I found you and vocaloid two years ago. I'll never forget how happy I was when I found this song- your last vocaloid song, on my recommended. Thank you so much for making these amazing songs. Thank you Edit: I am actually crying when I listen to this
I recently put a line from Unknown Mother Goose as my senior quote because of how much this song means to me. Wowaka means a lot, it’s still saddening to know he’s really gone 3 years later. I hope his legacy stays, he truly deserves it. “Hey, if you want to scream about your love, I’ll be right here. Words may be excessive but, this dream continues on.”
I'm so happy all the dead producers finally woke up from the dead. Specially wowaka. I was awake one night just playing wowaka songs on my project diva arcade ft, just because I thought it was sad that wowaka wouldn't make any vocaloid songs anymore. I was shocked when I saw the notification to his official channel..
I think most well-known and loved vocaloid producers can agree that without their vocaloid songs they wouldn't be where they are now. ryo (supercell) has made countless songs on it just look at ODDS AND ENDS. Hachi wouldn't be where he is without Matryoshka and Panda Hero. He never would've gained the courage if these vocaloids never sang the feelings and thoughts that they did. I think that's the real beauty of vocaloid songs. Not everyone is confident but with just a push you can become something greater. These songs are their way of paying some sort of homage. So, Miku's 10th birthday is definitely worth celebrating. They're not just celebrating it because it's Miku, they're also celebrating their own success knowing that their feelings reached out to MILLIONS of people.
It's very nice that a voicebank allowed these artists to create and make music and allowed them to get to where they are today. Miku's b-day is in a week, it's pretty awesome they made songs to celebrate what Vocaloid/Miku did for them! It's just I'm very excited all of these producers (who more than one of us thought weren't coming back) came back to the software one more time and created something beautiful for all of us to enjoy and celebrate with them.
Trust me I lost myself entirely when I saw all these producers come back! I'm just as excited as you are. c: Who knows? Maybe they'll sprinkle in more delights every now and then.
oh. wowaka. wowaka. my one and only wowaka a long time ago i talked with my friend about wowaka and dreamed about his comeback. i know he will eventually come back. and he did. words cant express how i feel right now, after all these time, after all those songs.... oh no im sobbing again haha good job wowaka, your newest song is flawless.
i know he still making music with his band, but what i mean is this is the first time in like forever he actually use the name "wowaka" himself, not hitorie, to make a vocaloid song for us all to enjoy
I know this is an old comment but I figured I should say Wowaka himself said she was singing "give me love, give me love again." But everyone misheard it so he just kinda rolled with it.
some sort of Unhappy Refrain 2 would be omg...like I can already tell he grew so much but still has his roots there...so doing something similar like it doesn't even have to be a sequel, but SOMETHING similar would be so cool...
i haven't been in the vocaloid community for very long - in fact, i got into vocaloid after wowaka died. but before i even knew anything about his death, i had heard rolling girl, and it had such a deep impact on me. after listening to that a few times and taking a cruise thru the comments, i realized he had passed, and it hurt to think about, and still does. i know im not felling as much pain as most of the people in the comments, but still - rest in peace, wowaka, and thank you for these iconic songs that have helped me fight.
My goodness... you go through wowaka's discography, in particular the bitterness in Unhappy Refrain, and then after years away from the scene he releases something like _this..._ it seems like his whole life was a desperate, agonized cry for help. I'm so used to producers like Last Note and EZFG and XenonP and Takamatt and HoP and Easypop, who take so much joy in their work, to see someone literally suffer for his art is jarring.

I put off listening to this... After discovering it through some art on dA I couldn't believe that wowaka came back with a song after such a long time! Reading what others have said about his background as a producer and his time with Hitorie made it really emotional just to listen to the first few seconds of it. When I was a kid I know for a fact I was part of that group who wrongly thought that Vocaloid songs just magically "existed", and credited so much to the image of the voice banks that sung them rather than the humans, thinking, feeling humans who wrote them. Personally, it's more than an eye opener reading the experience Wowaka had while using Miku for his music, along with the wave of other producers coming back to make something for Miku's tenth anniversary. It's more somber than I expected, but it brings an awareness of how far the community has changed. This song definitely has wowaka's touch, but at the same time it sounds nostalgic it's also grown in so many ways. His time with his band, finding his identity, building on his time while using Vocaloid, it just shows. AND the fact that Hitorie recorded it such a good sign of how far he's come ;_; (ugh I mean they're so great, part of the reason I made a NicoNico account was to watch their videos)... I don't know if I sound really presumptuous saying all that. Sorry if I am; I just got really excited after I finally clicked the link.
His songs sure are autobiographic, which can make them hard to relate to, but they're still wonderful. If there's someone out there translating Hitorie songs, I'll definitely check them out. Thank you for the translation. And please consider the suggestion in your poll that mentions Wrist Cutter sung by GUMI!...
WOWAKA AND HACHI AND 23.EXE JUST UPLOADED A NEW SONG TOO AH I CAN'T TAKE THIS I feel like I'm not getting the full message of this song, does anyone have any deeper interpretations they'd care to share?
The meaning of the song, the way i interpret it anyway, isnt just about wowaka's disappointment about how he didnt get the recognition he deserved like in Unhappy Refrain. I feel like this song is much more about wowaka and his relationship with Miku. There were many heart references in the song and even is the logo for both this song and unhappy refrain which prob references the fact he had an acute heart disease and that he prob knew about it for awhile. The story unknown to all is prob talking about his life and how in the end he is only 'humming' his story out there and not actually putting it out there for everyone. Instead choosing to do it in this song. Him entrusting his love to this voice again is prob about him deciding to use Miku's voice again after all these years. "I wonder if its okay to try and entrust those feelings unknown to all upon this voice...one more time?" The title of this song too I feel is a reference to how he said he felt a familial relationship to Miku. I remember reading in his wiki that he said that Miku was kinda like a mother to him. The Unknown Mother Goose being a reference to how his full story is unknown to all but himself and Miku. "My heart, creaking, lives in this moment more than anyone else's" Yes he did. Even now his heart lives in that moment, the moment when he made this song. Even if it took so long, Im glad people now recognize who he is and is being credited for his works. Thank you Wowaka for your songs. They meant a lot to a lot of us. Rest in peace.
wait a min, so he actually did have an acute heart disease? i mean i did suspect it since its very rare for someone in their 30's to just suddenly succumb to a random heart failure rather then it steeming from a previously known issue in them..... and not to mention, a lot of the lyrics do seem a bit too much of a coicidence... but does that means we have like, actual confirmation? or at least strong hints? am curious
I HAVE HAD THIS ON REPEAT FOR A DAY STRAIGHT GOD I MISSED WOWAKA. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH BLESS YOUR VIDEOS! ❤❤❤❤❤ Edit: ROLLING GIRL REFERENCE I'M GOING TO SOB UGH

Crying while listening to this- Why do people have to die at the worst moments? I hope Wowaka and fantastic people like him get to be remembered, even if only by few. As long as at least one person remembers them, they get to live on.
Rest In Peace, Wowaka.. I still can’t believe that you are gone, especially at such a young age. This was very unexpected and scares me for it reminds me that we are never promised tomorrow. Thank you, Wowaka, for sharing your amazing talents with the world ❤︎ You will be greatly missed!

I support the shunning v.v Ah, it's meaning is really interesting, seems like this song is about how they felt about their songs over the time up until now where they hummed their story unknown to all once again
I think this song perfectly reflected his frustrations of forever being known as just “Hatsune Miku”. I also think that the part where he blurred Miku’s voice kind of shows the unclear line between himself and the “Artist” That’s just a voicebank. This song was later performed at Cochella, all for that cycle to repeat. Now, millions think that Miku is an AI that creates music herself. I feel terrible for wowaka.
I feel like this is Miku talking to Wowaka telling him that if the world rejects her, she’ll still love him and won’t be afraid to keep singing even if the world hates her. Also, R.I.P. Wowaka
Im just binge watching all his songs rn and I've noticed they all mention hearts and stuff, which just makes me cry more because thats incredibly ironic. RIP wowaka we miss you.
"I dont know what love is or how it feels, but If my songs convey something like that to you, I´ll be happy to do so.". Is as if Wowaka knew his time was up. I am going to miss you so much Wowaka, you are and will be my favorite classic producer. Your feelings changed with us. You saw some parts of the world you didn´t want to see before. And so did I. Thank you...
Thank you wowaka for the all the best song you produce.. Now lay down your guitar and rest in peace...you already done your best May you be rocking at the end of the world even you're not here
"all alone, when i am engulfed by sound, it is a universal delight." i mean, that's it. that's exactly what this song means to me. when all hope is lost, when i'm at my lowest, it's so comforting to know that i can wrap myself in blankets, lay in bed with my headphones in, and absolutely lose myself in music for hours at a time. if i didn't do that once in a while, i seriously would not still be here.
Weird how songs can communicate to you even without the lyrics itself. It was like the day I first heard rolling girl. His music helped me through a lot. I wish there was a way to turn back time, just so I can tell you how much your music meant to me and to everyone in the vocaloid fandom. Your passing will not go in vain, and you and your message will be immortalized through the beautiful pieces you made. Thank you for everything you've done. Rest well Wowaka, you will forever be missed.
twitter.com/wowaka/status/900747444283097089 Reading this makes me really sad and understand more about the song. Sad enough that I have the desire to order Hitorie albums just to support him as who he is. Fuck, I'll go order them right now.
@corasundae ah yea, sorry about that, so let me apologize by translating a few parts for you guys basically he's talking about his pasts, in the year he was very enthusiastic in being a vocaloid producer, in his first unhappy refrain album then about his downfall where he felt that his identity is gone, fans started saying "this is vocaloid" instead of "this is wowaka" and he was really down. he was extremely depressed for half a year or so before creating Hitorie and felt that he would die if he did not join up with his members. Thanking vocaloid for allowing him to meet these guys, he tried his best for the band. He still listened to vocaloid and wants to continue working on it sometimes but he doesn't have time to do anything since he felt the need to do everything for Hitorie And after all his successes, he finally felt that he was free from his depressions, like he was someone named wowaka born on 2009 age 8. Coincidentally someone contacted him to work on a song for Miku's 10th anniversary, someone that helped him during the times as a vocaloid producer. Seeing the fire in that person's ambitions for Miku, he instantly said he'll do it with the mindset of "if I'm not doing it now, then when will I be able to do it again." Took three months of grief, exhaustion, and fun to create Unknown Mother Goose. He felt everything is needed in his life, to create who he is, Miku's songs, Hitorie, his albums. He felt thanks to Miku that allowed him to start his career, Hitorie that sustained his life, and everything. On the song, he saw himself overlapping Miku and goes with that mindset to create the song. He entrusted his words to her, his past, present, and his future. The instrumental was played by Hitorie, the reason he was able to continue making songs. He even sang the backup voice for Miku in some parts. He felt the need to do it and just did it.
Xsicho Cemetel Thanks for doing the translation. I just read Wowaka and demo's interview and it has the same message as that tweet. Thank God we're past the era where people wouldnt credit the producer. (eg: "Melt by Hatsune Miku" or "Daughter of Evil by Kagamine Rin" irks me a lot)
I will admit, I only just recently started listening to Hatsune Miku and I've never heard of Wowka. However, it seems that they were a well liked Individual within the fandom and I hope they can rest in peace

@@yorunix5569 yeah, Unhappy Refrain referenced it too. "After a harsh stumble, I gave up on "one more time", each rolling was an erring, and each one have you rolling in laughter"
RIP to an amazing artist who with his music helped me through many difficult times in my life and i will continue to enjoy them for the rest of it Thank You Wowaka
This makes me want to cry.. the lyrics, the fact that this was his last song.. the fact that he died, the fact that so many people were afraid this would be his last song....
i returned to the vocaloid community a few months ago and hearing the news about Wowaka was heartbreaking. thank you for the memories Wowaka rest in peace
Fun Fact: At 2:04 Miku starts singing, “Pick Me Up Again” repeatedly, but it was a mistake on Wowaka’s part. Since this song is about how he felt neglected and alone because Hatsu-Chan was getting all the credit for his songs, he actually meant to say, “Love Me Again” instead. After releasing this song, he apologized to his fans for the mix-up. Also, in all of his songs, he says “Mou Ikkai” at least one time in the song, which if you’ve listened to Rolling Girl way too many times like I have, translates into “One More Time” in English. In Unhappy Refrain, it says it at 2:19, and in Rolling Girl, it says it for the first time at 1:23. I know I’m missing some songs, but I’m too tired to make a list. Just love Wowaka and your J-Pop life will be great.
WOWAKA IS BACK TO MIKU??? OMG...Unhappy Refrain is my favorite Vocaloid album still by far...everything is so good on it...and this is a HIT! Edit: I love that this still sounds JUST like him...the fast singing the stray high notes...the general jumpiness of the rhythm...the reasons I fell in love with him so long ago...
The ReSTART album is meant to celebrate the return of these long gone producers. Makes me wonder, how many big name producer never left in the first place? I can only think of Mitchie M and Kz Livetune
I think that neither PinocchioP nor sasakureUK ever left the scene at any point. And while cosMo-P, Owata-P nor OSTER Project aren't that popular nowadays, the three of them have also remained active from the very beginning
I pretty much lost my shit when I saw Wowaka made a new song just for the 10th Anniversary Miku album. I'm so glad he uploaded it! :D I missed him so much... Thank you for subbing!
this song is reassuring... I have moments when it all feels like its building up to crash down and they way the song transfers into a more soothing melody towards the middle is just... its nice. it's really nice.
I usually hate people doing this but honestly; wowaka died FAR too young and all of us are going to miss him. His songs were freaking iconic and a lot of the people here came into the fandom through one of them, be it Rolling Girl, Unhappy Refrain or any other. Rest in peace wowaka, you will be thoroughly missed.
@Deadbeat Is *dying too young* a fucking competition to you or what was the point of that comment? 20 is too young. 31 is too young. Fuck, even 40 is too young, just shut your mouth and try thinking before posting something.
