The reel looks like a Shimano Talica, 20 or 25 size. The rod is probably fairly specialized and hard to get. Hes using heavy monofilament line. You can do this same kind of fishing with heavy spinning gear a bit easier and cheaper, a Shimano 8000 size spinning reel with monofilament line and a 7-10 foot surf/pier rod should do the job. The Talica he is using is a great reel but bigger conventional round reels are very hard to cast for even experienced users.
