Baki told Kozue that he would have been the one to die if he hadn't gone all out at the start of the match. It's like a Mexican stand-off rather than a proper fight. Both guys could have one-shotted each other, but Baki won because he had less hesitation and had survived life-death encounters. Anyways, Sukune and Hariyama fit the rival role more than Ali Jr.

My first thought was that it was done this way to pay respects to Ali, by proxy of his fictional son. He is his own character in the series too but Jr. is clearly designed to be a spitting image of him in his prime.

A lot of people keep talking about the upsetting conclusion to Baki's and JRs fight but Jr still had pretty impressive feats in this arc. Even Baki admitted he was strong so that's why he ended the fight the way he did because if not, it would've made the fight against him more difficult. Nevertheless the way the fight ended was still... anti-climactic.

It was really weird. lol They were hyping Ali Jr even before he made a proper appearance as this contender to the Hanmas, gave him some strong feats, then-- "Everyone who he beat comes back by and shitstomps him, they weren't REALLY fighting before. But his 2 wins against Doppo and Shibukawa WERE flukes, Jack pounds him into the ground, Doppo and Shibukawa got revenge, although he was injured at the time and Baki beat him like 10 seconds. He was poorly written, he was meant to be like a rival to Baki, and he was not even very enjoyable to me as that. He constantly tries getting with Kozue even though shes not interested in him in the slightest

strike4able yujiro acknowledge a lot of fighters including ali him self. It doesn’t mean that he is strong enough to challenge him thought. It’s not bad writing open your eyes pls. The production is just showing that baki has reached an other dimension of skill like the one yujiro is in. The fight was perfect and i hope they do the same in the anime. Overpowered characters are meant to be shown that they are overpowered. Let it be like that instead of the MC getting his ass kicked the entire Baki(2019) series. That was so shit.

If he can come back I want him to actually get a win on Baki. He took that loss hard but Baki was honest about having to end that fight as quickly as possible. Ali jr. has that limit breaking trait that might even the playing field.

Indeed but his skills were also first class. Doppo and Shibukawa and Jack actually believed he would drfeat Baki and Baki himself told Kozue that if he wouldn't have been serious from the start that he might have been the one ending up in pain. Besides that I like the fact that their "rivalry" was more about their personality rather than skill. As Kozue said Ali Jr. told her that once he chose her she has no say regarding the fact that he wants her, yet Baki told her that she is free to do as she wants if she gets bored of their relationship because he believes that everyone is trying to find happiness in their lives. So Ali Jr. was "impure" as one may say, he was trying to win the foght in order to gain self respect and Kozue's heart yet Baki was only looking forward to defeating a strong oponent.
