What was the reception like for this at the time? 😆 not knowing anything about kingdom hearts and seeing this for the first time had to be a shock to the system
So, in both the date shown in the video and the title of the video...this happened in 2004. KH released in Japan on 3/28/02. So, sadly, this was definitely NOT Japan's introduction to the series, sadly, as wild as that would have been, with the beginning having barely anything resembling KH at all at first, with some generic pirates getting in a Power Rangers-esque fight with the random host girl, without a Heartless in sight, while I'm pretty sure Hook has never had non-Heartless, generic human cronies go after anyone throughout the series ever. XP
She mentioned Chain of Memories so it doesn’t sound like this was the debut of Kingdom Hearts entirely as a franchise but I’m sure there were people there new to it who got quite a surprise from this event 😅
Hi! I played KH and am a fan so I am able to help with this question. Both Japanese and English are separate version. You do not have the option to switch voices unfortunately. I hope this helps.
As far as I know Disney just doesn’t use it anymore, as for the kingdom hearts costumes for Donald and Goofy, the same thing. The Donald and Goofy kingdom hearts costumes were last seen at someone’s wedding at Disney I believe. After that nothing else has been seen.
Disney honestly has 0 respect or care for their old stuff, it's depressing. It's probably rotting in a closet in some back room along with a bunch of other characters. I bet a fan would be glad to even see it on display. Disney takes old stuff and hides it and shoves it around until someone either steals it or breaks it. Source: Known a few people who worked at Disneyland, and they were depressed that all the disney history was treated like garbage. and no workers can take anything!
@@ZeranZeran It’s pretty true, once an old costume is just not being used anymore, it’s just kind of in storage somewhere gathering dust. Disney has a tight hold on their costumes so there’s no way they’re getting out of the Disney vault.
To be fair the only reason the costume worked here was because the audience saw it at a distance. Sora's weird perpetual smile and uncanny valley face were what made the costume bad to a lot of people. The franchise isn't really well-known outside of gamers, Disney fanatics and Final Fantasy fans either, so it sticking around was super unlikely. They could pull it off nowadays with improved mascot costumes.
Because Sora is mainly a Square Enix creation, Disney Parks need special permission to bring him out so he’s really only ever at Square Enix approved events. As far as Donald, Goofy, and Mickey in their KH outfits - you can actually see all 3 right now at Disneyland for the Oogie Boogie Bash! King Mickey in particular is quite rare so it’s surprising they’ve brought him out as well as Donald & Goofy in their respective KH outfits too!
