WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT HIS VOICE AT THIS PART OMG 1:24 Anyway, basically what I understand from the animation and the (English) lyrics posted by Yuu himself (♥) the story goes something like this (based on observation): The boy in the white hair is in a theater, and he is basically watches and sees the boy with the dark hair, lets just call his "twin", and is jealous of his spotlight and attention that he gets. That is probably why he has a flashlight later on, since flashlights can be used to point or direct attention at something. He keeps on wanting to get that attention, and keeps on saying or thinking "love me!" pretends and acts "small and cowardly" with "crocodile tears". In the lyrics, it also says "It's no wonder, that you hate them" probably implying the white haired boy hates his "twin" and the rest of the people around him that give him that attention. Eventually all that acting bites him back at the end, and he realizes I guess by seeing himself in his "twin"s perspective, which he looks pretty pathetic (tbh). The white haired boy snaps back to his original conscious body, and also realizes that he in on the stage of his own. He tries to put on a show or entertain the people watching him by putting on a "mask" and shining the flashlight on himself trying to mimic a spotlight with it. But all the acting he has done in the past, the "small and cowardly" part, is not really an act anymore, it has become a part of himself. That is probably why he cries at the end, since he is really has became that type of person he acted as before he realized that he was on a stage himself. In the end, it is shown how his "twin" also ends up in a theater as well, and maybe suggests that the process will repeat itself.

Reposting this reply about what is in the gun so that more people can read it because I ended up sharing multiple interpretations: It kinda looks like bullets or something like that? Or maybe vials of blood. My theory is that if it's bullets, it symbolizes how dangerous it is to be under the "spotlight" and how his choice to do so and perform/attract attention is just playing Russian Roulette, it also shows how he feels pressured to perform once he gets attention; if it's vials of blood it, to me, symbolizes how he lives for the spotlight, how it's a part of him -be it good or bad. Someone also theorized that both characters are the same person, only that the dark haired version is his front, an act he puts on to please everyone. I find it interesting because it would mean that the song is about the duality of the character who wants to be loved by others. He wants to be loved for who he is at until he realizes that he won't get as much attention/positive reactions so he wishes to go back to masking and be what everyone wants. In the end, it's a vicious circle. As long as he cares so much about others, he won't be satisfied because he wants to be himself but he needs to cater to everyone and hide who he truly is to be universally liked. In any case, it looks like both characters aren't satisfied with how things are and want the spotlight. Both seem to believe the other has it (ironically because they focus more on the other and thus shine a light on them at all times) and observe the other with jealousy. Maybe they try to one-up each other without knowing because of it? Maybe both characters show different ways of getting attention, white hair guy goes with pity and looking small and fragile: he's sympathetic, he gets people to dote on him; dark haired guy decides to be a role model: he's perfect, good at everything, he's likeable and reliable so he's popular in a traditional way. A possible interpretation from this could be that white haired guy wants to the popularity but his way of getting attention/love does not allow that thus hurting him and not working properly, dark haired guy wants the other's popularity. Since we don't get his point of view, we don't know what he might envy. My guess is that it would be how easy white haired guy's popularity is. He doesn't seem to have to do much to be liked (which we know is a lie as he's acting) while dark haired guy has to do a lot of work, he has to be good at everything so that people would hang with him. With the lyrics, one could conclude that they are "friends" who are jealous of the other for those reasons and kinda hate the other for "having it easy". The other's charm does not work on them but they both fail to see the other's shortcomings and their hurt from performing for everyone. I feel like no matter the interpretation, the song and video are about fitting in, funding your place, and being liked by everyone!
