Where was this equipment back in 2007 when I was working for a used car export company? We had to use steel chains & turnbuckles, and hammer bits of wood onto the container floor in order to secure the cars. We used 40 foot "high cube" (9ft 6") containers & each held between 3 to 5 cars, depending on the size of the cars. The constant fear was the chains or turnbuckles failing during stuffing or during the vessel's voyage. My best memory though was squeezing a Toyota Coaster minibus into a container. The only way it would fit was without the wheels attached, and the roof air vents removed. Took 7 men & 2 forklifts, 2 hours just to get it in. Goodness knows how they got it out when it reached Durban South Africa.
What do you do with the rack at the other end. Or is this a dedicated container railbilled back to shipper of origin? And since China Shipping is now owned by COSCO what became of this system?
In the yard, we would use Kalmar or Komatsu handlers that looked like giant forklifts, and were designed to lock onto & move containers. Once in port, the containers were lifted on & off just like any other container.
