東京藝術大学を卒業後渡独、カールスルーエ音楽大学大学院、そしてデトモルト音楽大学演奏家国家試験課程を最優秀の成績を得て卒業。J.ミコ-、杉本安子、中山靖子、湯口美和、S.シュパイデル、A.ウゴルスキらの各氏に師事。
これまで、ポルト国際ピアノコンクール(ポルトガル)やエピナル国際ピアノコンクール(フランス)テル・ハイ国際ピアノコンクール(イスラエル)他の国際コンクールで入賞・優勝。ハノー ファー・ショパン協会およびバーデン文化財団より奨学金を受ける。また、文化庁新進芸術家海外研修員として研鑽を積む。
ヨーロッパを中心とした各国でのソロリサイタル、室内楽、オーケストラとの共演、そして、シュヴェッツィンゲン音楽祭やベートーヴェンフェスト・ボン、モーゼル音楽祭など数多くの音楽祭への参加など、活動は幅広い。 ラジオ、CD録音も多く、ラヴェル作品を収録したソロCDや、2005年の創立から10年間在籍・ 活動したベートーヴェン・トリオ・ボンでの録音はいずれも高い評価を受けている。
北西ドイツ・フィル、ヴュルテンブルク・フィル、ライン・フィル州立管弦楽団、ピルゼン放送交響楽団ほかのオーケストラと共演。室内楽においても多くの演奏家からパートナーとして信頼を得て共演を重ねている。

Tokyo-born pianist Rinko Hama’s performances as a solo artist, as a soloist with orchestra and as part of various chamber music ensembles have led her to many different places, some of which are renowned music festivals like the Schwetzinger Festspiele and the Moselfestwochen. Hama impresses the audience with her artistic versatility, “a wealth of pianistic refinement” and her “graceful and flexible take on rhythm, ranging from dreaminess to a fine drive”.
Hama received her musical education at the University of the Arts in Tokyo, with Professor Sontraud Speidel at the University of Music Karlsruhe and with Anatol Ugorski at the University of Music Detmold. Her path in establishing a successful career as a pianist was substantiated by winning various prizes and awards at both national and international competitions.
Her wide repertoire, which ranges from Bach to contemporary music, has been documented by numerous CD, radio and television recordings and productions. Critics particularly praised her interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg Variations and her recording of piano works by Maurice Ravel.
As founder and long-time member of the “Beethoven Trio Bonn” she performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls of the world. Hamas various chamber music collaborations are documented by CDs and were lauded by the press for their “highly expressive passion” and “graceful lightness”.
The orchestras Rinko Hama has performed with include the Wuerttemberg Philharmonic Reutlingen, the North West German Philharmonic, the Craiova Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Porto, the Mendelssohn Chamber Music Orchestra Leipzig and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Pilsen.
