I've been listening to your songs for a long time but this is the first time I've ever commented In my point of view, you deserve way more subscribes and views than this !!! This is the best song of your videos that I like I have a bass G "dizi" too, bought it online, but it's made of Vietnamese bamboo and it does not have the membrane hole :( however I can still cover this song the same style you play (but I think the membrane will make the music sound more... yearning, I guess) By the way, this song is a masterpiece !!! I love it, I can even play the G key xiao part at the beginning and the middle of the song Hope your channel grows well !!! Make it viral !!! Ben Patel Thanks so much for taking the time to write this. I'm glad you are able to play the song yourself! I actually sometimes prefer the flutes with no membrane as it sounds more sad/calm. Also, thanks for thr encouragement. I will surely try to keep uploading songs.

Heartson Fan Some of my friends prefer the membraned flutes more than the non-membraned ones I dont know if I should get some smiths to drill a membrane hole into my bass G or not I really would like to hear your opinion, should I make a hole on the flute or just leave it be? One friend of mine told me that my flute sounds a bit too dull and he said that if you cover the membrane hole with ducktape it would still produce the same sound (like a win-win situation if I have a membrane hole drilled) I'm quite confused, will drilling the membrane hole affect my flute? The membrane does sound better, but I'm still scared it might have some unexpected consequences...

Ben Patel I wouldn't really try drilling unless its done by someone who specializes in making flutes. I dont know how it would turn out but afraid it might crack the flute or make it crack easier in future. Its true that covering the membrane hole with tape could produce the sound of nonmembrane flute. So it is better to have a membrane hole. I would just buy a new flute.
