I notice that Mainlanders find it ok to ask how much people make. My friend brought along a Mainlander for lunch with me. I was shocked when the first thing she asked me was what my husband did for a living and how much we made. Other Mainlanders I met asked me the same questions too.
They love to compare. EVERYTHING. I remember this father of my girl's primary school classmate from China. He's friendly and he loved to ask how all the classmates did for tests and exams. When the kids were streamed, he was very very upset his girl didn't get into what he thought was the best class. He kept going to the form teacher to complain.
@fungmeiho2976 yup, they do love to compare. I've met my fair share of Mainland parents who kept asking what activities my kids did after school. Two years back, one called me out of the blue to ask which university my son was going to and what course he would be doing!I was like....why are you calling me? The last time we spoke was when our kids were in primary school. Honestly, I hate comparing kids as they are different.
@lynlyncc That parent actually kept your number after all these years?! So scary. My girl's classmate from China left for the US or UK, I think, after PSLE. Yes, I don't like comparing kids, too. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses.
