艾克理寫這詩來回應一位年輕的猶太學生對他的質問：「我為甚麼要崇拜一個死去的猶太人？」。艾克理回答：「我信奉的不是一個死去的猶太人，而是一位永遠活著的耶穌。祂比以前更實在，在我和千千萬萬人的生活經歷中，我們有數不盡的見證。」
Ackley wrote this song in response to a young Jewish student who asked, during an Evangelical meeting, “Why should I worship a dead Jew?” Ackley’s response echoed Matthew 28:6: “He is not here: For He is risen, as he said.”
