I am not Japanese but I deeply appreciate this beautiful culture; these beautiful women they look classy and sofisticaded with a high degree of education.
nelson f1 fan They learned form the Tang dynasty culture in many aspects, including the poetry per se (漢詩)thousand years ago, and they have been keeping it till now. Japanese treasure their heritage as we all know.
The mutual respect between the younger and older generation is absolutely amazing. Notice that even oka-san's, natori, all bow to each other, even to 1st year maiko. They all look so happy :)
I really hope they could stay traditional forever, and not being influenced heavily by European culture to forget their root like my home country Vietnam. We are also part of the Sinosphere but after too many wars, nothing left, young generation have no ideas about their tradition. I really appreciate Japan that keeping all those, a really big thing to learn from.
Beautiful compilation. I love Mameharu; she's always so cheerful. It was good to see the Tsurui family, Nishimura (minus Chiro) and the other okiya all thanking their teachers and supporters.
we all can learn a thing or two from the Japanese culture, it is sad that new generations do not care about having kids or can't afford it, Japanese traditional culture is very special and original
You can walk al day in Gion without even a glimpse of a Gheiko ( this is what they are called in Kyoto) or Maiko. But this is a real treat .Thank you for it .I kind of realise that it was not easy and it probably took a lot of patience an swollen legs waiting to catch them.Nicely done.
Thank you for this amazing glimpse at a lovely cultural tradition. Such beautiful young ladies. I love your videos. This morning I've learned something new about Japanese culture and I really appreciate that.
@@juniorking3604 Back before electricity it was a little harder to see the faces of the women by candle light. So they started to use white make up that reflected the candlelight. It made it look like their faces glowed. I believe he only reason they still do it now is because it so deep into their traditions.
These are so gorgeous. They're in such high detail that I feel like im almost there, wonderful job as always! kudos with the serene song as well. Wow geiko Satsuki and Marika! @1:59 and she's (Satsuki)a jimei geiko- with as popular as she is, no doubt she will do just fine. wow that lady @4:29 is so sunburnt in the face. geiko Kikutsuyu @7:30 and poor Hidekano, you can tell the heat is really getting to her.
Hi thank you for sharong us those names. I have a question. Kikutsuyu is a geiko from hanafusa okiya? Usually their names always start with kiku. How ever i dont remember any active geiko there with that name. The most recent was kikuyae and beside her kikutsuru. I know they have an active maiko but do not remember the name
I never get bored from visiting Japan , visited Kyoto many times and still want to come back , must wait until Covid-19 crisis is under control . Love Japan and Thank you Japan for being kìnd, peaceful , safe , clean , honest , respectful .....🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Thank you for your comment. I am happy that you are interested in Japan. Please come to Japan when everything is settled. I will continue to give you my best. Thank you very much😊
こんにちは, It's nice to see your very good video again. I always watch the video of Gaisha and Maiko when ever this is available on RU-vid. Your video is very clear, which I really like. It's clearly shows the beauty of Gaisha and Maiko, especially the Maiko, I really love their kawai features. ありがとうございました
Just happen upon this video and all I can say is amazing. All those beautiful geisha. To think they still remain in his modern day and age...the appreciation people show them and the wonder and awe they can, and do, still instill in people. I hope young girls continue to become maiko and geiko and this beautiful tradition continues. Maybe one day I'll visit Japan during this time and get to see it for myself - I'd love to see a piece of such a wonderful culture and history.
All these ladies are high ranking priestessess of the arts ...such discipline, elegance and polite demeanor rarely can be found in the west. I wish them all great success in their carreers and I thank Anna Film productions for giving us a glimpse in their lives.
Thank you for the video. Very good video with high clarity and focus. Very good composition and smooth tracking with measured timing. And very appropriate music (not overpowering) that is very fitting to the atmosphere. The moment in time of this presentation is beautiful to watch. I very much appreciated and enjoyed your video. Thank you again.
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate your kind words😄😄😄 It's such an honor to be told that😊 I will continue to give you my best. Thank you very much👍
Beautiful Gion; Kyoto. Only in Japan you can find this kind of events, surrounded by a veil of mistery. They are one of the true artists of the world. I ❤ Japan. I ❤ their culture and traditions. Blessings. 🤗
Such lovely women and such a beautiful tradition. They seem like a parade of flowers. The world is blessed that the Japanese women and Japanese culture are striving to preserve the beauty of the past.
I absolutely love these ladies, and very special to see such beautiful kimonos. I visited this area last year, just out of this world. I love Japanese culture, and happy that traditions are kept alive. Thank you so much Anna -san, for such a wonderful video. 5 * * * * *
I remember the very first time I visited Kyoto, maybe twelve years ago, after having studied several books about the city beforehand. I could only stay for about 4 days, so I planned each hour, from about 5am each day., often taking the expensive taxi to maximize the time I could spend there. After having memorable moments at Yasaka Jinja, Kiyomizudera, Sanjusangendo, Fushimi Inari, Ryoanji, and Kinkakuji, before the first night came, my feet felt compelled to wander restlessly in Gion at night, tracing my way through the busy street lights to Hanamikoji Dori, where the famous Ichiriki Ochaya stands, like a monument from my deepest dreams. I stood in front of the curtained entrance, just awe-struck, wondering if it could still be in operation. At that very moment, after few seconds, a painted face paced out from there, who expressed no surprise at me just standing right in front of here as she exited. Without a further thought, I impetuously chased her (she stepped so quickly), asking in desperate tourist English, "Excuse me. I'm sorry to to bother you. I traveled from Canada and I was wondering if you would be so kind to pose for just one photo for me." With no attempt to hide her annoyance at my gesture, she herself gestured a clear "one" with her finger, speaking very quickly in Japanese, and stood there, posing for me in the middle of Hanamikoji Dori, the center of the tea district, and I fidgetingly put my camera on night setting, and snapped one permanent pictorial memento of that beautiful moment in time. She looks celestial in it, I assure you, the very picture of beauty itself. A year later I moved to Japan, lived there for 8 years, and have travelled to Kyoto about 8 times also since, sometimes through typhoons on a moped. I am back in Canada now, but I still dream of retiring as a gardener in the northern countryside there, either near Hieizan or Sagano. It has always been my favourite city in the world since.
Although they are beautiful to see, all those photographers taking pictures really disturbed me. Their privacy is really being tested. I can understand why the photography laws were enacted.
I believe photographers throughout the city were alerted ahead of time to photograph and document this special day when all the Maikos and geikos go and pay their respects to each other. This is big moment for Kyoto as a whole.
the way they walk is already an interpretive dance to me, oh, my God! that's how gracious they are. when they smile im already melting with ecstasy. when they giggle my heart wants to jump out of me. when they talk its like a morphine i dont feel anything but joy, honor is thier badge, wisdom and artful skill is their tools, but damn, they are married to the art. life is a big contradictions and chaos.
I am currently studying Asian History, I really want to focus on the Indus Valley, and Southeast Asia. Myself, I am Cambodian, but I deeply appreciate Japanese Culture when I took a Asian Literature Class, I really love Yosa Bosan, and Matsuo Basho. I really love, Japanese Buddhist history, Heian period and before. Also the Edo Period was interesting too.
I lived in Japan (Yokosuka/Yokohama/Tokyo) for a total of 13 years (8 as a child & teenager, 5 as an adult). I visited Kyoto only once. I always wanted to be entertained by the Maiko & Geiko (Geisha). To see them dance, play shamizen, play some games with them & converse. I have great respect & appreciation for their dedication to the arts & culture. Hopefully........one day.....I can experience this privilege & honor of being in their company.
Nice to see Japanese beauties in one lump. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. There are no details. Is it some festival or what. They discreetly enter some house or temple and come out quickly. Can somebody throw light on this. Japanese are good people. I love their workaholic nature.
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad that you enjoyed this video. 【Hassaku(八朔)】On this day, the Geiko and Maiko-san visit various shops and tea houses (chaya) to thank them for their patronage. Thanks😊
i wonder what arethosethings these geishs carry on their backs? just pcs. of cloths asdecorations orsomething else? andhow their coiffered hair looksso smooth and combedback lookslikewigs?
I wonder if the maiko and geiko will be able to participate in Hassaku this year D; Everything's been canceled, I hope this doesn't get canceled as well. I'm always amazed how the maiko and geiko can keep their composure in those black kimono and heavy obi when it's so hot outside!! It's also fun to watch the juniors run ahead of their seniors to open the doors and move the noren for them ^^ And it was such a treat to see smiley Mamesumi-san ^^ She's one of my favorites
ANNA film production, you have done another great video here just love these lady's as geisha & in their Beautiful Kimono, you have a great eye for your work best wishes. Kyoto is such a Beautiful city I would love to move here one day but hope to visit soon
Wow, I am immediately brought back to what the shogun era must have been, Japanese tradition, I'm speechless watching the beauty of the geisha tradition. Thank you for giving us a peek into their lives...
am a born Dutch, but my heart has always been in Japan, the culture, the kindness, and the respectful society you will find nowhere in the world, and then the Japanese woman is the most beautiful in the world, because where can you find women who have a beautiful culture , friendly and also respectful towards all people, and then the city of Kyoto is something that I am obsessed with "the Kyoto Tachibana SHS band" because they can also make music in Japan. I often wonder what am I doing here in the Netherlands? ;-) I just love Japan
Thank you for always watching my video😊😊😊 I feel honored you have an interest in Japan. I love movies directed by Paul Verhoeven. I'm looking forward to his new work. When the things settle down, please come to Japan. Thanks😊😊😊
@@annafilmproduction1143 Anna I will come to Japan at least 1x, although I will have to come on foot and with a bit of swimming I will come, but first help get rid of that annoying Corona, who already has some illness and death on his conscience, even though a few people in my circle of friends. i notice a big difference between how the Maiko and the Geiko conduct themselves. The Maiko seem so silly in comparison. So I just normally watch the Geiko vids lol.
Definitely worth watching. May we know if there's an occasion being celebrated? In the first few minutes of the video, It looks like a ceremony was being held at the house/establishment. Later on, the ladies apparently were visiting different houses/establishments. Were they paying respects to someone or blessing the house perhaps? Some ladies also wore white make up and wore something more elegant while the others were a little simpler, is it based on their social status? I don't mean to bombard you with all these questions but I hope that you can answer some of them. I really find Japanese traditions and customs fascinating. Thank you very much for sharing this video to the rest of the world.
It's an event call Hassaku which is held every year on the 1st of October to greet the teahouses in their district. All 5 districts do it on the same day. The 1st district Gion Kobu forces the young geikos and all maikos to wear the formal outfit in the brutal heat. The rest of the districts(from 6:13 Miyagawacho, from 9:25 Pontocho) wear the normal kimonos.
Sorry I forgot to mention that the superiors go inside first. You can never go in before your older sister unless you are told to. This applies not only in this event but through a daily basis.
Thank you for your comment.I am happy that you would say such a thing👍👍👍 I'm going to work harder. Mr. Anti-Hero answered all your questions. Thank you for the questions. I’ve learnt a lot from your questions. Thanks!!!
thank you this kind of work deserves recognition, so we can know more from our cultures, and to see such wonder that some times we miss, we live in this planet earth we should get involved and learn about what a beautiful world we live in, you showed me something amazing, I'm looking forward to see more of your hard job, peace love. thanks lots
