For the Manila Chamber Singers’ 8th virtual choir offering, we are joined by the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale. Our two choirs share a special bond as the the first ideas for establishing MCS were born during the UP Manila Chorale’s first European tour in 1998. A few years after dreaming together, some alumni of the UPMC went on to establish MCS together with other friends and fellow choral music enthusiasts. It was with much excitement and a hint of nostalgia that we collaborated on this project, further strengthening the ties between our two choirs.
As we pay tribute to loved ones who have gone ahead of us, the Manila Chamber Singers and UP Manila Chorale present to you Mae-e (Forward) by Kentaro Sato. This song was composed in memory of the victims of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Its beautiful melody embraces us as we relive memories laced with the loss of sadness but buoys us up with hope as we continue taking steps forward. We carry with us cherished memories and the love of those we hold dear. They live on through us as we continue to cradle them in our hearts.
