奥羽山脈を越え、北上駅（岩手県北上市）と横手駅（秋田県横手市）の61.1kmを結ぶJR北上線。この冬のローカル線を駆けるキハ100形の姿4本を撮影しました。撮影日はたまたま西和賀町で「雪あかり in にしわが」が行われ、キャンドルに照らされた夜を行く、幻想的な風景も撮影できました。なお、今ではJR東日本各地の非電化路線で活躍するキハ100形（キハ100系0番台）ですが、ここ北上線はその最初の投入路線（1990～1991年）であり、この映像に映るキハ100形はいずれも車齢30年超の老兵です。
The JR Kitakami Line crosses the Ou Mountains and connects Kitakami Station (Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture) and Yokote Station (Yokote City, Akita Prefecture) for 61.1 km. I took 4 videos of the KiHa 100 series running on this mountain railway route in winter. On the day, "Yukiakari in Nishiwaga" festival happened to be held in Nishiwaga Town, and I was able to capture the fantastical scenery of the candle-lit night scene. The KiHa 100 series is now used on non-electrified lines throughout JR East, but the Kitakami Line was the first line to introduce it (1990-1991), and the Kiha 100 series seen in this video are all old veteran train of over 30 years.
