Madam Luo is cold and calculating so she knows how the game is played. She's a very ruthless woman. Lianfang has met her match. Shiyi and her bio mother were expelled from the house when she was young so all the wisdom she has is due to her real mother. She was lucky to have been raised by her mother instead of Madam Luo. She might've been a different person if Madam Luo had raised her.

i was so disappointed when shiyi's biological mother was eliminated but it add some intrigue to the story.

Me too. I wasn't sure how she was going to get out of this mess. Lianfang certainly underestimated her. The best part was watching Lianfang's face when her plan fell apart. The best laid plans..blowing up in her face. It couldn't have happened to a better person.

Previously, he was away from home most of the time. The family was managed by his mother and his 1st wife. This is the first time he got summoned (called on) to station in the capital (Imperial Court). How is he not smart?? He sees through a lot of things but not debunk. He solved a lot of problems/conflicts “behind the scenes” for Shiyi. He’s the guardian angel of Shiyi . In this episode, he just returned from a hunting trip, he didn’t know what had happened and didn’t know that Shiyi was “kidnapped”. He kind of suspected something was fishy based on a very short conversation with his wife. He then hinted to Lianfang about the acts/engagement of the servant and guards right after.
