(Lost Canadian)。There is already a bill to amend the Citizenship Act to address "lost Canadian" and you can track its progress as it makes its way in the Parliament.
不要太擔心,Mia 只是不是自然就有加拿大藉,而是要申請,應該會過的,especially you have strong family ties in Canada. 😅
Kim Cattrall is a citizen of three countries. Yes I meant Samantha from HBO series. UK by birth. She immigrated to Canada as a child eventually getting Canadian citizenship. She worked in Hollywood for many years and got her us citizenship in 2020.
yes, Mr Harper change the policy/law in 2009. also, it's not so easy to apply R.O.C aka Taiwan status on foreign country anymore. Believe applicant has to go to Taiwan.
Basically, you have two options. You can either file an application for "Proof of Citizenship" if applicable or an application for Spousal Sponsorship Overseas. You can message me for more information.
I've heard of this issue before but I heard that it may be possible for you to get relinquish your Canadian citizenship and then obtain your Taiwanese citizenship and then apply again for Canadian citizenship? Might be a bit tedious but maybe it's possible for you?
@Kelsi. Since you are Canadian before you gave birth to Mia. Then Mia should be qualified to apply for Canadian citizenship. Your daughter is likely a Canadian citizen if at least 1 parent (legal parent at birth or biological parent) was born in Canada, or became a naturalized Canadian citizen before the child was born. Were you a naturalized Canadian citizen before Mia was born?
Although im canadian and lived in canada most of my life, i was born abroad and therefore considered canadian by descent rather than naturalization, so the decision we received is that i can’t pass my citizenship to her since she was born abroad too (can only pass down one generation) 🤷♀️
