I'm so impressed by this maestro's wonderful technique and musicality, and the orchestra is also top-notch. I also did not realize that he is the player who premiered this concerto (I had assumed Liu Xing was the original performer), nor that it was composed as far back as 1987.
@@ericlohk It seems, based on what you say and in light of the time period, that these three gentlemen are the modern traditional music equivalent of Cui Jian (for Chinese rock) or Du Yinjiao (for Chinese jazz). Perhaps not entirely coincidentally, Liu Xing's work does incorporate some phrases and playing techniques that seem characteristic of rock guitar playing.
