25 years ago, Vancouver Chinatown used to be my go to place. I usually go there for Hong Kong music CDs and movies. At the time, Hasting St was already filled with homeless especially at night, they would sleep on the sidewalk. Nowadays, Whenever I come to visit , I just go straight to Richmond and skip Vancouver altogether.
Same here but it wasn't that clean compare to North Vancouver. Got worse in the late 1990s when I left. I bet there are many Mainland Chinese now (non Cantonese speakers). Pretty similar happened in London, UK.
I’ve lived in greater Vancouver for more than thirty years I’ve not been to Chinatown for past 15 years you can get most Asian stuff in many other places including Cantonese services
3 big HK style cinemas in China town decades ago. new immigrants today cannot imagine how prosperous Vancouver was decades ago when those 300,000 HKers were still there from 1980's to 1990's. Later Taiwan people came then mainland people.
Chinese dialogue and Chinese subtitles with no option for subtitles ??!! How am I supposed to watch this and understand what the video is even about ??? Pretty sure I am in Canada with a Canadian IP address. Each to their own but it's impossible for anyone that speaks English to watch this. SUBTITLES would really help. I don't get it. It would be the same for an Asian viewer that doesn't understand English trying to understand. Strange.
